After Horus of Waiting for My Library Files to Be Scanned, This Happens

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

After several attempts at a scan of my rather large library (I re-scanned because I just added some new files), I have noticed that the vast majority of movies that initially had the proper film cover now have some random scene from the movie as their cover.

Additionally, I have noticed that although the scan has appeared to have completed on the top right corner where it would usually have a orange loading circle, when i right click on the playlist, it has an option to cancel the scan (which would lead me to believe it is still scanning for files, although it does not notify me that it is still doing so).

I simply want to have the proper film cover for each film, and figure out if and when the scan is completed (and if it is, why it still says “cancel scan”).

Lastly, I would love to figure out how to update to the newest version of Plex, but every time I click on the hypertext, it downloads it to my current computer I am using, and not my NAS which is where (I believe?) I would want it installed.

Please bare with me, I am very new to all of this.

Any suggestions or advice on either of these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Now I cannot even get to my Plex Server page. This is what Chrome displays when I try:

This site can’t be reached

http://192.168.1.33:32400/web is unreachable.

ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE

I apologize, I found out the issue. The power went out when I was asleep and restarted, but the NAS did not. The logs are now attached, Plex Media Server Logs_2020-04-26, I would assume they do not include any sensitive info?

I saw the warning, I thought it meant to not have data outside of the folder, in those areas where the warning is written.

I’m not sure I understand why it would be an issue to have them in the Plex folder, but I will read up on what you sent me. Additionally, I’m not sure where to move them to. Another folder next to the Plex folder? A folder that is not in the subfolder Plex entirely?

And, my NAS has a static IP. I set it myself. 192.168.1.33.

I read the article in regards to Plex Media Server Security Changes, and despite having issues fully understanding several parts of it, it also contains at least a couple of structural sentence errors that only confuse me further. So, I will try to best summarize my issues, and what I still need assistance with.

  • At no point in the article does it state that I need to move media files, nor any files, out of the Plex folder, as you previously stated. The only aspect that I read that is crucial is to change the settings to allow read and write, or read, for the highest level possible. This has already been done on my end.

  • What is a media share? Why not simply click edit on the Plex folder and makes these requested changes?

If this article is aimed at new users, it does a poor job of explaining everything in layman’s terms. Just being honest.

Now I no longer have a folder called Plex, it has disappeared on me. So I can no longer move the files until I find that folder, which Synology live help has not been able to find for me.

Thanks! I appreciate your help. All is working as it is supposed to now.
