After migration of Plex Server from Mac to Synology friends can no longer access shared libraries

I have migrated my server to my new Synology using this really useful guide: https://florianjensen.com/2019/01/26/migrating-plex-from-mac-to-synology/

Everything migrated without issue and appeared to be working correctly. The only issue I am now facing is that friends can no longer see my server as online.

Remote access is working correctly and I can access my libraries remotely, but other users cannot.

I have tried removing the shares and re-adding but I have the same issue.

From the point of view of the other users it looks like my server is offline.

I have tried everything I can think of, and have not found any other mention of this issue on this forum or on Google.

Any ideas?

Update: It appears that the issue was related to the various machine/process IDs in the preferences file.

The solution was to:

  • Disable remote sharing
  • Sign out from Plex Server
  • Stop the Plex Server instance
  • Delete MachineIdentifier, ProcessedMachineIdentifier, AnonymousMachineIdentifier, and PlexOnlineToken values from preferences
  • Restart Plex Server and log back in

Only cleanup was the need to re-share the libraries with friends.
