Hi folks,
I have an old Plex server running that I fired up the other day as it is my music server, same network as my main Plex server. Years ago I moved my Movies, TV shows, etc. to a Synology server, and the Synology has been accessible to me outside the home and anywhere, but heard from a friend the other day that they can’t reach my server to watch anything. I logged into the Synology server, went to Users & Sharing and I can’t find my Synology server libraries to share - Plex web only shows my “old” music server library (and music server name). Something is fishy. Anyone got any ideas on what to look at?
Server Version#: 1.25.3.5409 (Synology) 1.25.3.5409 (Mac) - pulled from Settings - General on both server webpages.
Player Version#: none
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
So, both servers are claimed. The odd thing is when I’m outside the home, I click on my Synology server and select movies (on the plex ios app for instance) and it says Mac (old server) is Unavailable, yet the iOS app header says “Movies - Synology”.
I do have an old movie library on the Mac server, so something is mis-wired. What logs do you need to see to figure out what’s up?
As a followup, I updated both server softwares as of yesterday (Synology 1.32.2.7100, Mac Version 1.31.3.6868 as it’s on 10.11). If I run my Synology server, then launch my old Mac server (both have proper port forwarding to separate ports), things get messed up. If I quit the Mac server, quit Synology server, then relaunch the Synology, I still don’t see proper sharing under “Manage Library Access” - users don’t have access to the Synology’s libraries even when the Mac server isn’t running. I haven’t successfully gotten the Synology server to show up remotely since I ran the mac server, but things seemed to be reset when I applied the Synology update yesterday, until I launched the Mac.
The only thing I can think of is we had a power outage middle of this past week, and a friend was watching a video, then had to stop, but couldn’t log in afterwards. Otherwise, unless anything was changed on Plex’s end? I can delete the database and wipe everything out and setup the mac server again (it’s only a music server) but I’m at a loss as to what’s happening.
