Hi there, since I moved PMS to a new PC, one issue I have is that accessing it seems to change depending on something that I don’t understand, plus the “automatically sign in” doesn’t stay checked.
I have activated TFA, and can view the contents on iphone and ATV. But.. Each time the PC is restarted the tick box for auto logon is empty and I must go to the https://app.plex.tv/desktop webpage to logon. No request for the PIN or TFA is made. Perhaps I am missing something or this is how it now behaves, and it’s been a couple of years since I set it up and everything was fine, but don’t remember having to re-logon every time the PC is restarted before now.!!?
My main worry is that I may not be able to access the PC while I’m away, to logon after a restart/reboot, to regain access to the content remotely.
cheers for any input. CD
Did you copy all the data, including the registry branch?
If you did, is the old server machine still running?
Settings in the web app are stored locally in a cookie, in the web browser. If your web browser is clearing all cookies when it’s closed (nowadays almost the default behaviour), then all settings of the web app revert to their defaults.
Tell your browser to retain cookies from plex.tv
The web app has absolutely nothing to do with the Plex server. The web app is not needed for the server to serve content to other clients (local or remote).
Plex server is only visible to you by its task tray icon.
If you want to ensure that Plex server is always running, even after Windows has performed a restart (e.g. due to the automatic installation of Windows updates) then run Plex server as a Windows service.
Hi there, thanks for the very prompt reply.
TFA = 2FA yep
Old PC is not running anymore, thanks for the tip.
Thank for the tips on the registry, running as a service and cookies. All things I have overlooked, durrr
cheers CD
Brave is made explicitly to sabotage and restrict web sites. Not the best environment for the web app, which is dependent on all ECMA-script features working as intended.
