After new update to 4.34.1 analyzing tv shows for intro skip crashes server

I’m in the same boat as rflick. Any time I try to analyze a season the progress circle for detecting intros gets to almost full then brings the whole server down. I have the most recent server update. Logs attached.

@EricD1973 - please enable debug logging (but not verbose). Enabling crash reporting would really help too. Thanks!

Logs attached after enabling debug crash reporting and trying to analyze season 1 of sopranos.

@StSimm1 it’s crashing if I do a single episode or multiple episodes

Right, but I was referring to different series (i.e. not star trek)

Yes, Brooklyn Nine Nine, According to Jim, Ellen’s Game of Games

and I keep getting error Http 429 in Crash uploader

Not sure if this might be related to my own issue here: After upgrading to 1.19.3.2831/2843 PMS is unstable and crashes every 30 min

Unfortunately I can’t seem to grab comprehensive logs or crash reports as the server does a BSOD without even an OS minidump, but I’ve attached what sparse logs I can get to this post. Crash happens at 02:12 in the morning. Happened the night before as well with the slightly older PMS version.

Server is old-ish (2014?) :

May 22, 2020 02:12:24.054 [7568] INFO - Plex Media Scanner v1.19.3.2843-e3c1f7bcd - Microsoft PC x64 - build: windows-x86 - GMT 01:00

Yeah just wanna jump on this bandwagon here, getting the crashes as well. Running on older Intel hardware, Windows Server 2016. NEVER had a SINGLE problem with PMS before today, it’s been an absolutely flawless experience despite my old rig. I can’t identify when the crash triggered for me, but I can add that I set Generate intro video markers in Settings/Library to Never and scanned all my media, no crash so far. Server has only been running for about 10 minutes so I’ll see if anything pops up later on. Logs attached, thanks gang!

I’ll have a new test build within an hour or so. It may not fix the issue (I hope it does!) but either way it’ll give me a few more diagnostics.

Please take https://artifacts.plex.tv//plex-media-server-experimental/1.19.5.2847-5d2c77062/windows/PlexMediaServer-1.19.5.2847-5d2c77062-x86.exe for a spin and let me know how you get on.

@rflick @EricD1973 @torrobinson @radd.price

Same problem here on older machine, always crashes when detecting intros. Hope this new build works! Thanks for the quick turnaround.

Please let me know. Thanks.

@StSimm1 so far no issues and seems to be running great again without any issues analyzing tv shows or PMS crashing.

*Update I can analyze from episode level, season level, but not series level. When I select analyze for “skip intro” on season or just a single series I do see it begin in activity monitor, but trying to analyze a complete series I never see it start in the activity screen.

Also Plex Crash uploader is uploading.

Have you seen a ‘skip intro’?

@StSimm1 yes, I have seen the “intro skip” button appear. Great job to everyone who worked hard to fix this.

Thumbs up here. No crashes after analyzing a few seasons from a few different shows, including the one that was crashing every time before. Great work!

I had the same issue described by the others - the 2847 release you attached solved my issue entirely, many thanks. Are the changes in this going to be pushed to the live releases too? The v2843 release didn’t work for me either. Out of interest, could I ask what the issue was?

Yes, they will be released on Monday.

In your opinion do you think this fix applies to my own issue described here? After new update to 4.34.1 analyzing tv shows for intro skip crashes server

It wasn’t an instant crash, the intro detection was scanning and running just fine, but I was getting the BSOD during scheduled analysis late at night when it would have been scanning a large amount of media.

Thanks
