After Plex Player update on nVidia Android-TV > remote control functions no longer work

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: 1.18.2.2079
All updates installed on nVidia Shield from Google Play Store.

There is a related post on the issue with nVidia Shield and the fact that the " ESC " or “BACK” buttons on remote controls does not work to exit media that is currently playing.
Instead we have to use the " WIN + BACKSPACE " button for those who want to use a physical remote control.

( Using a Rii i8+ Mini Wireless Touch Keyboard )

Not a big deal, just need 2-hands for that one function.

However, since last PLEX PLAYER update (about 1 week ago) for the nVidia Shield (and most modern Android-TV platforms I would assume), the “Next Track” and “Previous Track” buttons now no longer work as well.

You are now forced to use the on-screen options to navigate your media.
This basically makes things like photo viewing, and music listening not viable on your PMS with our multiple home devices, now that it seems that the physical remote keys no longer map to commands with the updated PLEX PLAYER.

Is there a way to map remote commands to the Plex Player for Android TV (like you would do for a universal remote)?
Or can PLEX fix / reinstate support for remote control buttons for the Android-TV platform(s)?

Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated!

Same for me with a shield 2015 and shield 2017 controller. I can’t use “B” to go back now, I have to use “Select” and on the 2015 remote “back” arrow does work though

Yeah same here with the B button not exiting the playback like in the old player…it is kind of an irritation…is there any way they can re-add the B button functionality to stop playback and go back like the old player had?

same problem with B button on the shield game controller not working.

I’ve ran into this issue using the new interface also it’s not only a controller issue. The media keys previous/next track no longer work with my harmony remote. This makes me think it’s a bug with the new ui… (really wishing its not a “feature”)
