Hi, after an update just 10 minutes ago my plex app went from being fine to suddenly being picked up by Nvidia Geforce Experience when I open it into fullscreen mode - it doesn’t do this unless I specifically open up in fullscreen.
The problem is now my PC is recording what I’m watching and has an overlay visible and there doesn’t seem to be a way to disable this without a huge inconvenience for when I want to play a game to record that.
Any tips to stop nvidia shadowplay from ruining my plex viewing?
Also, this problem does not happen with Plex Media Player Version 4.29.2
Unfortunately it seems Nvidia is actually ignoring peoples’ requests for such a feature to block apps from being picked up by their shadowplay program that causes this problem. They have ignored this issue for years now.
The only way to get around this is to disable the overlay and recording, of which is extremely inconvenient and I will probably forget to turn it back on before playing games next and that’s never fun to miss a good moment.
The only solution seems to either use the “plex media player” program or in a web browser like firefox, which the problem does not occur on.
Ick you’re right. I see posts where hardware accelerated Discord is treated as a game by Nvidia software. An opt out would have been really appropriate for their software.
I’ve added this to an internal issue tracking gotchas with the hardware acceleration that landed in 1.30.
A 1.30.1 update will be released tomorrow reverts the change that led to this issue. In the meantime you can uninstall 1.30.0 and re-install 1.29.1 from our website. Hardware rendering will be re-added in a later release.
