Running Plex on a Windows 10 PC, has worked great for years. Recently the scanner has stopped working, it can’t find metadata for any new shows or movies added. I am using Filebot to ensure my naming standard matches TVDB or MovieDB, and this has always worked. All of the sudden I seem to be having problems.
Most times a manual search will not find anything either. I did have a manual search work for one movie, it found the show but failed to pull down the metadata content (i.e. movie poster)
I’m running the latest version of Plex (4.41.1 as of 9/3/2020) I’ve restarted server, I typically always keep everything patched up and current, wondering if maybe a recent update caused an issue.
Any thoughts on how to FIX?
Specific shows not updating: Cobra Kai, Boss Baby Back in Business, Bill & Ted trilogy, Star Trek Lower Decks.
One movie “Housesitter” is an old flim I’ve had that was not playing properly. I replaced the file with an updated copy, and now it can’t pull down the metadata, where before this issue it did. File has the same name so nothing changed there…the agent just isn’t finding the info.
You might want to check your Plex Media Server’s database. If the database is corrupted, this could prevent Plex from adding new entries.
Another possible scenario could be the network access of your server. If Plex cannot connect to the internet (or some of Plex’ servers for what it’s worth), you won’t get any matches. This can happen if some security apps / firewalls etc. block Plex from connecting to those sites or a bad DNS which cannot resolve the URLs used by Plex.
In any case your logs should show some error messages that will give help shed some light on the cause of your issue.
