Air Play integration into iOS app for lag free audio throughout the house!

I have several Sonos speakers throughout my house. Currently I am unable to listen to my plex library without going through the Sonos App.

With Air Play integrated into the Plex App, we would be able to access our library and choose which speaker to listen in real time and choose which speakers to listen on.

Airplay is already enabled on several other apps with this functionality.

With Youtube, I’m able to listen to the video stream without any lag! I’d love to be able to have video stream on my mobile device and walk through the house to listen as its played.

Please add, its a minor addition to the app!

I’ve been told that if your Sonos speakers support AirPlay, then this should already work.

My Sonos speakers do (Sonos One Gen 1 and Gen 2), but I can’t find any options in the Plex app to have the sound on the speakers… If anyone knows how, please post here.

In other apps, you click the cast button (icon that looks like a box with wifi in bottom left corner) then you choose all devices to cast to.

No such options in the iOS PLEX app that I can find. There is a cast icon, but when you click it it pops up the “choose a player” options which only show my iPhone and my Mac. (doesn’t even show either of my two windows computers).

To the right of your iPhone, there should be the Airplay icon. Click on that, then you can choose the Airplay devices your iPhone can see. Like this.

i don’t have any sonos, but air play definitely works for me (my AV receiver does airplay).

you can also turn on air play by the ios control panel (slide up from bottom > top right corner of media player section)

Wow awesome!

Didn’t know about both of those!

The Plex option is a little unintuitive but now that I know will use.

The iOS universal option is amazing! Basically can cast anything my phone is playing! Didn’t know about that either.

Thanks both!!!

i think they are one and the same, once you are connected via airplay, all audio will go through, even if you start in one app, then switch to another.

I agree the icon is a little unintuitive, I didn’t realize it myself for a long time (I always used the control panel thingie).

bluetooth devices also show up there, like headphones/speakers etc

2021 clean-up: implemented / basically available
