Hi all! I've been dying to get airplay officially built into the Plex media server, so we can navigate with any client and always get a playback option for any local AppleTV, or other airplay device. This would eliminate the need for a jailbreak, or the need for an official Plex client on an Apple TV.
An app called "Zappo.tv" has this functionality, but it's very limited, and doesn't take advantage of the transcoder.
Please review companion video (video #1) posted here to get full details of what this feature would bring us, the Plex community of users. It would make navigating and playback a breeze, and even easier to access content from anywhere at anytime.
And also, a quick video (video #2) showing how Zappo.TV works as a service, and all you have to do is add your selected device when starting a new session, so all you would do is start Zappo.tv, go to devices, and select your Apple TV. Plex could do the same thing. Start the client, run as a service, that way Plex is always accessible from the task bar, select your preferred client (apple TV, Roku, XBMC, Mac mini, etc.) and your done. After that, you would navigate content, push play, and playback on you're selected device would start. Sounds amazing, right?
Thank you for reading! Hopefully you all see the added value this feature would bring :)
