Airplay Plugin for Plex

Maybe I missed something, but when I run airplayer.py I get an error that it “couldn’t connect to Plex at 127.0.0.1:3000”, even though Plex is definitely running, and I can load the XMBC web server at that IP/port.

Any idea how to get this working?

I get the same and I get

05/04/2011 17:57:24	mDNSResponder[30]	Client application registered 2 identical instances of service furbys-Mac-Pro._airplay._tcp.local. port 6002.

if that means anything

Restarted and got the same messages. My AppleTV shows up so I know my iPhone is working fine

Guys, can we have some better info on the first post? Bet of a nightmare finding info to get started with this.

Can't control the first post, so [I made one of my own](http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/25356-airplayer-for-plex-how-to-install/).

PascalW, if you’re watching the thread, looks like the audio key has been cracked:

Now if we can fix a few bugs and add m3u support, this could be complete!

Great! I just want to post this great news but I love to see that you guys already knew this!
Thanks @diamondsw for your great script - you're my hero!

It looks like Airtunes is already available. However I did not test it but actually it shouldn’t be too difficult to include this in Plex. As there is no interface needed. But I’m sure some of you already have plans for this.

Open Source AirPort Express Emulator Released

Interesting - I just installed this (via the instructions from the other thread and I’m getting both video AND audio. Most apps work, but streaming a video from the Photos app seems to crash the iPad.

Are you saying with the most recent build you can stream music from iPod app on your iPhone/iPod/iPad to the Plex AirPlayer instance?

Hey dudes, any updates to this?

Anyone know if the work on the audio-only version of Banana TV done by Erica is open source? I know she is selling Banana TV now, but I’d really hate to see this be closed off and not integrated into applications like Plex. Anyone in the know on this?

I just can say it would be great if we could get audio too. For those who have a Mac connected to their tv it makes no sense to connect another device to it or use an additional Airport Express.

To stream audio it probably doesn’t have to be included in Plex instead it could play in the background. Of course it’s nice to have the cover and the seeking bar in Plex too, but in most cases the tv will off to listen to music.

This is a great idea, it would be awesome to have this implemented!

Very nice idea!

Ahem! Music streaming? Any news? Anyone?

Strange how silent it is about audio streaming. Doesn’t anyone use this?

People use it, but there are precious few people who can code it. The one person who put this together in the first place has been MIA for a while. Either he comes back, or someone else with the requisite skills picks up the project.

I have this set up on my HTPC mac mini:

https://github.com/albertz/shairport

Plex doesn’t “know” about it, but it really doesn’t have to.

I have it starting automatically via a login hook:

hey very nice script

but i got a problem for me its works with video for example form youtube.

but music from the ipod app isnt working ?

any ideas ?

edit: sorry just read the post above mine. thanks. waiting

Just thinking but with iOS 5 it should be possible to listen to audio by mirroring the display - of course only if audio is transferred too. But this would make sense to me.

But still only streaming audio would be better as it is less energy consuming on both devices.
