Album art works for some albums but not others - Album art using Local Files as source

I’ve got a music library that uses completely local metadata (the Scanner is Plex Music Scanner, the Agent is Personal Media Artists, and the Album Art is set to Local Files Only). Some albums correctly load the album art, but others won’t load at all (when I click Refresh Metadata on them, nothing happens, whereas with the ones which load correctly, when I click Refresh Metadata, there’s a spinning/loading icon for a few seconds and then it goes away).

I’m not sure what’s up or what could be wrong. I don’t notice anything special about the albums for which album art isn’t working - I have some flac files and some mp3 files of varying bitrates, and some flacs and some mp3s work while others don’t.

Has anyone seen anything to this effect happen?

Note: Sometimes when I try to save changes to the Music library it’ll have an error as well.

The problem doesn’t seem to be related to file permission issues either, I’ve checked all of those and some just mysteriously work while others don’t.

I’m having the same issue after upgrading the server to 1.20.4.3517 (Mac). After adding a small test music library (with the “Local files only” setting for album art and the “Plex Music” scanner/agent) of 30 multi-disc albums, about a third of them do not show the album art. To fix this for albums with the missing art, I have to 1) go into the library grid view, 2) use the dropdown menu in the bottom right corner of each thumbnail and select “Refresh Metadata”, and then 3) click on the album title to view the album artwork and track listing. Only then does the album art refresh, showing the correct album art embedded in the album’s files. This issue seems to happen more with multi-disc albums.

This isn’t working for me. Some albums I can click on “Refresh Metadata” but will either not do anything or will spin for a while and then not do anything. I tried deleting and recreating the media library with no success.

Tried adding more albums with the Mac server version 1.21.0.3616, and there are still issues with the artwork. I suspect this is related to much deeper problems with the music scanner, as it often breaks apart tracks that have the same album title, artist name, and year in the metadata into completely different albums. But that’s for another thread.
