Man… just setup my new show 8 and was so excited to setup a scenario for this play on my LG tv but it doesn’t work. Same thing happening here. Any news Plex Team??
I was looking into this when someone reminded me about https://support.plex.tv/articles/115000320808-getting-started-with-alexa-voice-control/. The LG app isn’t listed as supported. I’m trying to verify, but looks like there might be a mis-communication with the app showing up as a supported device to Alexa but it might not actually be implemented. I’ll provide an update once I hear back.
Thanks. Alexa is reading data from Plex very accurately. She knows what show I am watching, she politely offers to resume where I was up to…everything works except the LG TV playing the content 
Alexa will certainly launch Plex ok, and she’ll report that she’s playing a song or show…and then sadly nothing.
Happy for any advice you find.
I have the exact same issue where Alexa knows the server and player, gives a positive prompt of command, then nothing. I run Plex server on a synology NAS and I have a players on 3 windows computers and 1 Mac. None of them work.
Alexa is on Sonos Ones.
Same issue here but I can get it to work on my ios phone
My echo dots all play music fine but ask Alexa to play a video to a PC with Plex Media Player actively running and it says enjoy but nothing ever starts.
Glad it not just me but hoped someone somewhere might say they got it working.

Yeah it all seems to fire off and work with no fail…but with out any error message it’s so hard to know why it doesn’t work. Alexa thinks it’s all worked. But the Plex app never delivers on the tv. I love plex…but this function seems like it will never work?
Hey MovieFan, did you manage to get an update on whether or not the LG WebOS app would be supported with your Alexa skill? It would be great if the “play movie” feature could work.
Sorry for not providing an update. The app is not supported. I was waiting to hear if this was an update in the status for support, but I don’t have any more info.
Ok. Thanks for the reply. I guess we’ll just have to hope the feature is fixed in a future update.
Does that means the Plex app on LG is not supported? Or Alexa and Plex aren’t supported?
Using the Plex Alexa skill to play on the Plex for LG app. You can cast to the LG app from another Plex client, like your phone, just not with Alexa.

I’m not sure if it doesn’t work because LG is not listed as suported device - I’m having the same problem, and my TV is listed there (it says Samsung 2016+ and I have Samsung model from 2019). After saying “Ask Plex to play…” Alexa replies with “Playing on TV Living room” but it never starts. If a screen saver is on, plex stops it, if it isn’t, nothing happens. I hope this will be resolved, because it is really useful function.

Two or three versions back on Plex Server - EVERYTHING worked great !!!
With the last 3 versions, Alexa cannot launch any movies.
When you start the movie manually, all instructions are executed - stop, pause, resume.
I’ve been waiting for PLEX TEAM for a whole year to fix this problem!
I was hoping that this version 1.19.4.2935 would solve the problem.
Unfortunately It didn’t solve it …
In the meantime, I’m flooded with offers to buy Premium …
Guys …Fix it and we will buy it !!!

Sorry to jump in on the same thread but I’m here with a 2019 Samsung TV, Plex pass, media server in house and Alexa Echo in the front room. Also have the latest media server version publicly available.
Alexa plays Plex music, will pause and play current show on the TV but will not start a show or movie.
PMS Version : 1.19.5.3112
Plex for XBox One Version: 2.57.0.70
Same issue with Xbox One for me. When I ask to start a movie, I am asked if I want to continue where I left off and whether I say yes or no, nothing ever starts.
When I switch to the early access version 5.1.1 of the Xbox One player, Alexa tells me my player appears to be off line and asks if I want to select a different player.
It does work on my TV which is a 2015 Samsung with Plex App version 2.008, but I would really like to have it work with my XBox One.
I just updated the PLEX TV app to last avvailable version 5.1.3 platform 3

RE-SETUP ALL of IT … including the Alexa skill re enable …

Alexa support hasn’t been added to the new app yet. It’s on the to do list.
I had the same issue as of yesterday when I checked but it worked a week ago. I have a netgear Ready NAS with plex server on it. I updated it thinking it would fix it to the latest version. I reset the NAS and disabled and re-enabled the skill. Nothing worked. Then, I found a setting in the Plex network settings, that seemed to fix it:
In the below picture where it says Preferred network interface, “Any” was selected. I changed it to my the interface address on my local network (e.g. 192.x.y.z address). Then I asked Alex to tell Plex to play some music, and it started working again.
I am not having much luck with alexa
I can control the currently playing video or music
I can make it skip forwards an episode
If I let an episode fininsjh in plex it wont start the next one
I can make it play anything a) it gets the title wrong so is trying to play something I didn’t ask for b) it doesnt actually do anything
Any way to make it browse and change libraries?
