Nearly all my tuned channels are HD however without fail all play in SD.
Has anyone experienced this behavior?
I’m located in Australia, using a HDHomeRun, on the latest PMS and using a Sony Android TV.
@smacrae1970 Which channel are you having issues with? I’m in Melbourne, and was able to stream channels like Ten HD in 1080 to my Android TV.
Really? All my HD channels stream in SD… Literally all of them… I’m in Melbourne also…
Some cable providers do things differently, and they’ll have SD channels in a specific channel range, and then have HD in another channel range. Others have both SD and HD at the same channels, and their cable box knows what your TV will support, and dynamically changes based on TV that it is connected to.
My provider originally had the 1st method, then later changed to the 2nd method. Initially this caused issues for everything that wasn’t played through their cable boxes. Eventually they fixed the issue by having 2 different channel maps. So perhaps it’s something similar.
This is viewing it on ipad, live tv, the AFL game on atm in HD.
Do you guys have any issues recording ABC in melbourne since the update?
I get a transcode error when recording only the ABC channels!
All other channels are fine and I can view them all Live including ABC. Just have issues recording it.

@discosrule Do you have the same problem with ABC HD, or only on ABC? I recorded that exact episode tonight from ABC HD with no issues. :thinking-face:

Fine, as I can play any Of the ABC channels, live, thru plex. Just doesn’t record. Was also fine recording on v1.54
@discosrule At the expense of being cliché, try a server restart? If that doesn’t work, could you generate a sample from the recording, and shoot it over, alongside some logs?

Thx, but I’m not expecting any support out of my unsupported setup atm.
Just running a unsupported setup of tvhProxy, TVHeadend and Plex before purchasing a HDHomerun, which I will be doing next month as I love Plex.
Logs are over here if interested. As mentioned, the recording doesn’t even start, comes up with a transcode error. This only happens on one set of channels (ABC/ABC HD/ABC2) and I can PLAY all of these LIVE thru Plex, only has happened since the update.

@DaveBinM on my Android TV I am able to direct stream other HD content I have so I just assumed HD live tv channels would stream live also.
My son is watching TV at the moment, I’ll send a snapshot of my Android TV settings when he’s off 
@discosrule It’s a bit hard to follow in there. Can you turn off Verbose logging, and then reproduce? Those errors you mentioned at the start, I think they’re pretty standard as Plex tunes in, the same way you see a bit of a flicker as you change channels on TV normally.

Here are some steps…
Getting samples for DVR issues
Steps:
1. Restart your server, and allow the EPG to load (if it's been ~18 hours since a server restart)
2. If you had the EPG reload, then restart your server again (this keeps the logs clean, as there won't be the EPG refresh this time) - otherwise you can skip this step
3. Start a direct .ts sample from the tuner. You can do this by using a command such as:
curl http://tunerip:port/auto/channel > /users/outputpath/plexSamples/samplefile.ts
(You should copy the tuner URL bit from your logs, to make sure it's the same)
4. Start a recording in PMS of a problematic channel
5. Cancel the recording after a minute or so
6. Stop the direct capture from the tuner
7. Download the complete logs from the server
8. Zip up the logs, the direct sample from the tuner, and the recording from PMS, and post them here (tag me to make sure I see them)
Once you’ve done that, we should be able to reproduce. However, I’m not sure if it’s to do with tvH or not at the moment. If you know of particular channels or shows in particular which always do this, let me know, and I’ll try to replicate with my HDHR.

It does it with ALL the ABC channels all the time, ALL other channels, 7,9,10,SBS are fine and no issues.
Live TV thru Plex is fine, even plays ALL ABC channels fine live, just has an issue recording it. tvHeadend will record ABC fine as well and the sample file you requested here using curl is fine as well.
1-8. steps, done.
New logs attached, you will see (summary below), that it starts and then kills it after a second, so I can’t get a sample recording from plex.
