Plex media player nor web or desktop web are showing HD channels anymore in the Program Guide and therefore can not record any programs. Just started happening before the last 2 beta downloads and still after each of the 2 beta downloads including the one today. Fix it please I am losing programs in HD to record. In my case I Have a HD Homerun 3 tuner with cable card for Optimum Online/Cablevision/Altis depending on what you know it as in the NY area. Media player and server is running on the same WIN 7 PC. Current Plex server version is Version 1.13.4.5251 I just downloaded. Also the channels are typically in the 700 range of 702 = cbs, 704 = nbc, 705 = fox, etc. up to 713 for pbs NYC all HD channels. Only the SD channels of their 2, 4, 5, etc. up to 13 are being recorded and seen in the guide now.
And id appears rescanning the tuners does nothing as the HD channels DO NOT get listed to assign and is why I can no longer record HD stations that parallel the SD channels. The HD channels are indeed in place as I can use the live tv simple application tool that HD Home Run provides to view the SD and HD channels on the HomeRun 3 tuner box. Plex FIX YOUR PROBLEM please! This was not sudden I think but after some days over time seems to have corrupted something or finally caught up unless some kind of coding relating to how HD channels are identidified by the cable provider has changed that PLEX no longer recognizes?
Maybe this is the problem:
āAttempt to find better channel numbers in XMLTV files (#8744)ā
If you are running PMS Version 1.13.4.5251 perhaps roll back to a known working version such as 1.13.3.5223 or earlier,ā¦
I just installed PMS version 1.13.3.5251 and FWIW I donāt see this problem.
Nope I would have to go back as far as 1.13.2.5154 from about 6/11 at least if not all the way back to the prior ones of 1.13.2.5142-3ba6662e9 or 1.13.0.5023-31d3c0c65 dated 6/8 and 5/8 about when i installed them.
I have never gone backwards, can I just run the executable in the download folder and Plex will simply reinstall that version taking care of all things or must I fully uninstall PLEX first and reinstall the other version?
I am running PMS version 1.13.2.5154 and have the same exact problem (Windows 10 Pro)
Yes I noticed some of it starting to happen before the last 2 beta releases which is why I am consdering going back to the 1.13.2.5142 version or earlier. And I think the grid guide version came in 5154. Seems we perfect one thing and then break it adding other bells and whistles.
So I went back to this 6/8/18 version 1.13.2.5142-3ba6662e9 where I uninstalled and reinstalled thinking that was the last good one I did not have issues with some 3 versions back from current beta. Nope still broken. HD channels of QVC and other minor channels out of the 700 range are being picked up but NO ISP of mine Cablevision/Optimum/Altis HD channels being picked up in their basic major network range they typically place at 702 thru at least 713 that correspond to the same SD channels of 2 to 13 covering CBC, ION, NBC,FOX, ABC, etc. What is going on PLEX? I think you corrupted the scanning process as the channel scan shows no 700 channels anymore to assign to the label. And trying to add a tuner again and scanning from scratch does not seem to help either for the HD HOME RUN network of 3 tuners for channels did not help either. And yet with the HD Home Run Live TV viewing program I can see all the stations that PLEX once could. Now what go back to yet an earlier version? I donāt think that will help. I hope PLEX fixes this crap that is now very annoying and to think we pay for this.
So I tried to readd tuners with the full scan process and PLEX seemed to see the channels of some in 700 HD range when it asked me to verify channels it thinks it found but when I clicked on next to finish the mapping process where one checks the channel on by the station label and assigns a channel for what Plex does not do automatically NO 700 stations could be selected and assigned as none existed for i.e. 702, 703, 704, 705, 707, 709, 711, 713ā¦covering the major networks. So someone mentioned XML issues or whatever in the tuner scanning/assignment process in one reply abvove so may be it is the issue now? PLEX FIX IT! please. I am missing a lot of HD recordings!
This restored the HD channels for me. Under Settings>Live TV & DVR select Delete the current DVR ( HDhomerun Prime for me). Then click Set Up Plex DVR and go through the steps to set up the DVR including entering your zip code for your guide info. The HD channels should be included now.
Thanks that full delete and setup I did not do yet. I will try now.
UPDATE: that did the trick but the question now is is there a bug in the versions after the one I backleveled too 1.13.2.5142 including the latest beta releases or this would have fixed the issue for the latest beta release too?
UPDATE2: still updating the guide but seems to be working. But I have to ask with 25,000 entries downloaded for the guide for 109 channels of which only 55 are active, it begs the question is it not more efficient to just download the active checkmarked channels for NN weeks of episodes upcoming per user choice of i.e. next 2 weeks as opposed to many weeks or months? Seems all unnecessary.
So guide was updated BUT there are still problems. Now all the so called HD channels shown in the 702, 704, 70? range BUT they are only playing at 480P like their base equivalent 480P stations of 2 cbs, 4 nbc, 70? etc. So there is still something wrong with PLEX as I stated I can see the stations in full HD using the HD HOME RUN TV LIVE simple channel viewer desktop application on the same pc as what plex is running from to the networked Home Run box. So when PLEX downloads the guide and optimizes it as it claims is it discarding the HD 700 range channels and defaulting to really plaing the base 480P channels? I hope not. In fact Plex should detect the SD and HD and make HD the first channel to record with SD as back under its ANY recording advanced setting which it does not do today. So still have issues not being able to play or record HD stations.
OK. Rewind. Boy I feel like I am testing the PLEX software. So it appears PLEX is showing the 700 series HD channels in the guide AND recording them. What I observed earlier was this. The guide has a few play bugs when playing in the media player. If you click the PLAY on the channel icon on the far left of the guide grid say 702 it plays in HD but if you click on the program play button that is currently airing in the time slot it plays in SD not HD. It is this later SD that I was seeing in my last mention of not playing live HD. Whooda thunk to check both play buttons. So Plex you got a bug in the play options it seems to me. If I am playing the channel i.e. 702 HD or playing the current active program as live tv both should play in HD.
Update 2:
For Plex Developer: I can confirm that, for some reason, HD channels are falling through your code. The channels are somehow are not recognized as HD, they are now something else (AVCHD?). When I set the Resolution to all, but limit it to a (former) HD channel, everything works fine. Plex is no longer recognizing channels over 100 as HD.
For Plex Consumers: While in Plex, go in to Recording Priority. Go into each of your recordings, select Advanced, change Resolution to Any and change Limit to Channel to one of your HD channels. The recording will then record your show in HD.
Update 1: Just noticed that the HD Channels in the HDHomeRun LineUp are listed as AVC HD. First time I have noticed that.
Original Post:
Installed Windows Plex Server 1.13.6.5339 and HDHomeRun 20180807 on IntelNUC Windows 10 Professional. Have used Plex successfully for years so very familiar with it.
With HDHomeRun update, had to install 2017 version of Microsoft C++ (x86) redistributable. Did not have to do that before with any prior HDHomeRun update.
With those installed in the last day or two, Plex Recordings where Resolution is HD Only, no longer show up in the Plex Recordings Schedule. 90% of my weekly schedule is now blank. In the Recording Priority list, all shows set to Resolution of HD Only now show āNo Upcoming Airingsā. If I switch a show to Resolution of Any, it will schedule it to record tomorrow.
Have refreshed the Guide twice with no change.
Can provide screen prints of what I am seeing (or anything else) if that would be helpful.
In addition to HD channels not correctly registering any more (in the guide the channels do correctly show as HD for meāeven the HD filter worksābut DVR wonāt record on them) Iām having problems updating the guide channel list:
Instead of binding the show to a channel (especially since a few items hop between channels) I figured Iād finally take the time to remove the non-hd channels: But they wonāt go away. Iāve unchecked the non-hd channels in the tunerās āManage Channelsā dialog, but they still show up in the guide. Iāve refreshed the guide multiple times, and even went through rescanning channels: All to no avail.
Confirm with latest Beta I can no longer use the āHD onlyā box in the advanced recording. To get an HD recording I have to point to a particular channel. This was first world painful, since in the attempt to understand the problem, I completely wiped out my record schedule. Please fix.
Same thing happening to me with latest beta. Setting as āHD onlyā removed the show from the schedule. Just started happening in the past few weeks or so. Running the Plex docker on unRAID. Tried removing tuner, rescanning, etc.
i have the same problem where every channel shows as HD but when i set to HD only i show no channels when trying to record
There appears to be an issue and I have been investigating on this forum topic Plex HDHomerun DVR "HD Only" resolution not working
I now have the right diagnostics to refer it to the development team
Plex Media Server 1.14.1.5487 has just been released as Beta. It has a fix for the HD Only
issue where it gets ignored when selected for scheduled recordings
See Release Notice
- (DVR) Recordings could be missed when the āHD onlyā setting was selected (āŖ#9226ā¬)
