All my custom images wont show anymore.. what have i done wrong?

Hi all,

I’m new to plex server and just updated Plex on my NAS. I did have all my media with covers showing nicely, but since the update, the media is still there but no covers?

my file is

/media
  /program title
    /season 01
      program name - s01e01 - program name.mp4
    show.jpg

I’ve tried : -

  • The Plex Dance
  • Clearing my cache
  • checked my local media assests are checked and top most in the list

but nothing is working, any help is greatly appretiated

thank you for your help and time

What version of the Plex Media Server do you have installed (and on what platform)?
Could you share a specific example of those files/folders?
Given your example… I take it your tv-show type library is pointing at /media/?

AFAIK, the show image should be named “poster” not “show”. Not sure how it worked before.

show.jpg should work as well…

TV Series Posters

To add a custom poster image for the series itself, name the image file as follows:

  • /TV Shows/ShowName/Custom_ShowPoster_Name.ext

Where Custom_Poster_Name can be:

  • folder
  • poster
  • show

…and ext is the file extension. (Some operating systems such as Windows may hide your file extensions by default.)

Ah, you are correct.

Can you dance 1 show then post your logs.

hi, thank you all for your replies.

version 1.19.2.2737
running on TerraMaster NAS

root/
  Plex video Files/
Tournaments/ (this is where the plex tv show library is pointed)
      London 2019/
        Season 01/
          160119 - s01e01 - London 16-01-19.mp4
        show.jpg

the video file is there, I can watch it via Plex though the graphics that I created for the cover dont show any more. I can go into the edit option for the file in plex and select the image from there, but that is alot of work for something that I think should be picked up automatically.

I’d be more than happy to do that… one problem… um… where are the logs? I’ve had a look through and dont see anything that sugests to me it’s logs.

Via Plex Web:
Settings > [Server Name] > Manage > Troubleshooting > Download Logs

I hope that helps,

after doing that, I’ve found that one or two of them are now showing up, but not all of them… the file format is the same for all as is the naming format.

I really have no idea what I have done… but my mother always said “when you do somethign do it well” so I guess I have messed up really well somewhere…

edit:

I have just found that if I go through each library and refresh the metadata that about 70% of the graphics for that library now show up…

Thank you to everyone.

I’ve found my error… it was 100% my fault, for some reason I named some of the jpg files with the mp4 name and so they were not picked up…

feeling slightly stupid now but at least I found it and have it sorted…

Thank you for your time and patience with me.
