hey folks,
so i’ve been gradually replacing the posters for my media … i’ve been using the “put a poster in the folder … name it poster.jpg” method. For some reason, several of my TV shows will not display the image in the browser when i go to edit. I cannot find anything wrong with the posters it is not able to pull up - they aren’t corrupt - they are properly sized - and they are located in the right place. Any ideas?
I don’t use TV libraries much, but is it possible that there is a poster embedded in the media files? If it’s anything like Music libraries, Plex will use embedded images instead of discrete files.
Sorry if that’s no help, but it’s all I’ve got for TV.

I may not have explained the problem properly - so after dumping the file into the folder - i then go into the plex web interface, find the tv show - go to the edit pop-up and then to the poster page - normally the poster will load in that interface and i an select it there. unfortunately, the posters aren’t showing up.
I do this occasionally. I have found that using '“show.jpg” instead of poster usually works, and if you want season posters name them season-01.jpg, season-02.jpg (in the season folders) to get them to show up. Sometimes you need to hit the refresh button for the show/series to get the new posters loaded.
Might add that recently Plex has had some difficulties recognizing season and poster images that aren’t downloaded with the TVDB agent… we’re hoping that gets fixed.

If the show is already in your library, just dumping a poster into the folder will not work.
You need to Refresh the show (and make sure the Local Media Assets agent is active for tv shows beforehand). Only then the newly added poster file will appear for selection.
And sometimes it won’t appear even after that. In this case just use the drag&drop method of adding a poster.

yup - that’s already being done and sadly hasn’t worked. it works sometimes but not other times and there isn’t any rhyme or reason so far as i can tell.
