I’ve had a Plex server running on my NAS for some time now, but am experiencing some problems with manually updating a poster on a TV-show.
My system:
QNAP TS-451+ 4-Bay NAS with 16 GB RAM & 4-12 TB HD’s
The history
I have downloaded a TV-Show! I put the files in my TV folder in my media library. Plex could not find any posters for the show. So I am now trying to add the correct artwork. I’ve downloaded 3 posters (all .jpg) and placed them in the show directory.
I’ve tried adding them. The media server loaded the picture, but as soon as I go back to the list and return to the show, the images are gone.
I the searched the wiki and forums, and tried naming the files correct (poster.jpg etc…), and same thing happens.
I’ve done the exactly same thing with another ‘moved podcast’ and every worked perfectly.
For TV shows I have only ever tried adding posters to individual seasons. And the format for those seasons should be “season01.jpg” and “season01a.jpg” placed inside the season 1 folder. Poster is movies format if I am not mistaken? I could not say for the main show trying to manually load a poster.
Having said that the posters and items would be considered local media which is handled by the metadata scanner. Have you tried after adding it to refresh the metadata of the show?
I’m not sure, but I think I may have figured it out… I was trying to add the poster to the blank icon that was on my “Deck”, when I actually went into my TV shows folder and tried it, it worked!
Ah, that will cause you issues and confusion for sure. The deck one is the individual episode which mirrors the entire show’s entry in TV (not the season for the specific episode), If you are trying to edit the deck item’s poster what you are actually editing is the individual episodes poster (e.g. the episode thumbnail you see in the season list or on continue playing). As the on deck item is a portrait orientation it uses the show poster and the episode/continue playing is a landscape it uses the individual episodes “poster”.
