Nice. Well done.
Last clarifying question, and I’ll stop bothering the Plex world tonight; nothing on our end, right? Meaning, there’s no network configurations or server related things I should be doing, correct?
Thanks again!

Nothing. This is all way up on the cloud side from what I can see. Right now, most of the team is sleeping. Everyone else will start joining in in a few hours (starting around 08:00 GMT)
Hey,
Is this issue still present? Just tried to add some new episodes to TV shows but the metadata isn’t syncing. Wondering if this is something on my end or with TVDB/Plex
Cheers
same problem here, no metadata since today
The http://api.thetvdb.com/ is dead yet again.

in that case PMS should work with themoviedb.org but is not, is not even getting metadata from second source

Plex got a cache of thetvdb, so even if thetvdb is down, metadata should still be grabbed.
Its probably an issue with the plex cache.
Guess its a good thing i searched a bit before making my own thread. Added a couple of shows and noticed 1 of them downloaded a poster (about an hour ago) but the other ones did not download anything at all (metadata/images) so i guess its somewhat intermittent?
Anyways hopefully it’ll get sorted out. Thanks for the update @ChuckPA
EDIT: i have a feeling the way i phrased this post may be confusing. As of right now i’m getting 503 errors from Plex’s thetvdb mirror when refreshing metadata.
Just a data point but yeah - been having this issue for a little while, intermittent metadata matching at best. Today, nothing for all episodes downloaded so far.
Updating…
Yeah, it’s down again.
There’s not even a way to get anything going in the interim. It’s down hard
Sometimes i really hate thetvdb and their ■■■■■■ communications…
All those hits on thetvdb, does Plex supplement and/or fiscally support them in any way? I would hope so. Or, better yet, especially given the price of PP, perhaps Plex could maintain their own source. Seeing as Plex calls home anyway for most other things (or so it seems). Just tossing that out there.
yeah the TVDB API is down but I switched agents to the movie database which also has TV Shows shouldn’t that fix the metadata issue in Plex… I ask because I tried and it didn’t seem to

If i recall right Plex should be looking at their version of TheTVDB first and then fall-back to TheTVDB itself if/when Plex’s mirror/cache fails. TheTVDB itself has been having issues for a few months now where either the site or the API went down (or both) but because of Plex’s mirror/cache it would only be apparent if you tried to access TheTVDB manually. Right now we got hit by a double whammy just as @ChuckPA mentioned on this thread earlier/just now because both API’s are down right now.
And to make worse pretty much everything depends on TheTVDB (other sites, agents, etc).
@hexluther and @EntroX see this post https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1636482/#Comment_1636482 by @ChuckPA regarding the cache that Plex has of TheTVDB. I asked him last time when this was happening.

Well, that post does indeed explain the current behavior (if you query Plex’s cache it ends up timing out sending you to TheTVDB). Thanks for the link!
Is this situation still being worked on? I, too, am having many issues with the metadata downloading for TV shows.
My husband said I should just put the sh** in and not worry about the artwork or the episodes. He just doesn’t understand.
FYI: He’s just kidding!
TheTVDB’s API just started responding. Scan while you can!

That’s just cruel ![]()
He’s just kidding, EntroX.
And thank you for letting us know about it working…success!
