So I’ve just noticed this over the last few hours. I can’t seem to get any metadata to load whatsoever for new episodes. They are named correctly as “showName - SxxExx - episodetitle.mp4”. I’ve tried clearing plugin cache, optimizing db, cleaning bundles. I thought it may have just been an issue with one show but new shows I’ve added are having the same issues. Looking at the log file for the tvdb plugin, I see a lot of errors that seem to indicate problems with tvdb/Plex but wanted to see if anyone else was having problems as well. Here are some pertinent lines in the logs (the first line has me wondering if I have an issue on my side)…

Is it not filling in the metadata after 24 hours?
I added a tv show I was ripping from my dvd collection (Criminal Minds) 2 days ago and it wasn’t getting the metadata for the 3 seasons I loaded. Thought it was the match issue, so I unmatched and rematch but still no metadata (well not as fast as it used to) so I left it and was going to go in and manually tag each episode on my next day off, but the next morning the metadata was fully filled in. I only am assuming the api to the tvdb was going slower than it had in the past and that I was used to.
I’ll have to look at it again tomorrow evening. It just started for me a few hours ago. It acts like it’s done but doesn’t load anything. Just weird that I see those errors in the logs.
I’m having the same problem. Added four new episodes in the last three hours, only one of them managed to load metadata. I have checked thetvdb, and all episodes have dataentries.
having issues too, was only getting episode metadata on the first few seasons of long-running shows. traced it to a thetvdb issue. their API is only returning 1 page of episodes for every show, so any episodes beyond the first 100 won’t return any data.
Same problem here after upgrading to the latest beta.
Added 3 movies in the past 24 hours and I had to match them all manually but even after that, they still won’t pull their metadata. Going on 12 hours and still nothing. Never had an issue like this before.
I’ve now been able to confirm this as well I think. I added episodes of another show under 100 and metadata loaded just fine. I had roughly 70 or so episodes. I added in groups of 6 until I had 96 episodes total. All metadata loaded for every episode. I then added 6 more to bring the total to 102. 4 of the 6 loaded just fine. The other 2 got no metadata whatsoever.
You know referencing my posts is going to get my attention
If there are issues with specific series, give me the info and I will test quickly to see if I can reproduce. If I can get clean results, I will show you the exact naming and structure used.
lol just thought this may be why we were having the issues we’re having in this thread. What specific info do you need other than series names? The ones I’m having issues with are Wings (1990) and Dragon Ball Z (1989). For Wings, I uploaded season 7 and no metadata is being loaded. Another user mentioned that he was able to prove that tvdb wasn’t returning anything past 100 episodes which season 7 would be after 100. Then I started uploading episodes of Dragon Ball Z. All of those worked until I seemed to hit the magic number of 100 and every one after that didn’t load any metadata.
Thanks for taking a quick look into this for us! Let me know if there’s any other info you need.
Looks like thetvdb switched back to their new V3 API. The exact same thing happened over the summer when they first launched it. When they switched back to their old API it started working again.
I too am having the same issue: Random series cover and season art not showing up. I just upgraded to QNAP 4.4.x and PMS 1.18.2.2029.
I managed to get something to load by adding fanart.tv and TheMovieDB as secondary sources in TV Shows agent settings. Better than a bunch of gray rectangles.
Hope this is fixed soon, because I like the TVDB artwork better.
thetvdb tried (and failed it looks like) to do a v3 update yesterday. All API’s are mostly or fully failing on id tokens, the db’s are out of synch and the website is ■■■■ up. Not the first time this has happened, it will take them some time to sort their ■■■■ out. Will most likely regress in a couple of days if prior experience is to rely on.
if you check your agent log you will see a 404 from tvdb2 and if you manually attempt the query you’ll see the non authorized error in clear text.
I am also having a similar issue where metadata is just not loading. It seems to be isolated to thetvdb. Yesterday I noticed that I was having trouble even updating series within Sonarr so I imagine that something has to be going on with the communication between Plex and thetvdb API? All new episodes that are scanned in can’t pull down any info.
