“All team events” scheduled recordings not recording

I have set a few schedules up in the dvr (example: all Boston Celtics events) but they never seem to trigger a recording event. Manually setting a recording for a specific event works just fine and there’s no issues with the recordings once they are done - just seems like the guide doesn’t know what to do even though it clearly shows what teams are playing. Thanks for any help.

Further context/info - my other server running 1.24.4.5081 does not experience this issue.

I have the same problem. Setting up individual recordings works, but when “record all [team] events” is selected its added to the recording priority list, but says “no upcoming airings” (when I just selected an airing of that team from the guide!).

This just recently broke. It had been working for years until maybe 2-3 weeks ago.

What EPG source are you using? My working instance is using Local Broadcast info while the busted one is using Comcast…trying to figure out if the source of the issue is there vs the server.

Also this only seems to be an issue for teams-specific rules…I’m able to schedule general series-wide recordings just fine.

Having the same issues with live events. Recently broke and recording individually is the work around.

I’m using Charter Spectrum cable.

Good to know it’s on the teams-specific rules–I guess (because I can’t do anything about it).

Are the entries displayed in the guide at the time of airing correct? I’m using XMLTV and every game with the same title eg: NHL Hockey will show the same sub-title and desc for every game instead of the specific individual entries. The XMLTV file is correct, Plex is not.

The guide does show the correct teams and also the correct new/repeat status for the game. Seems like it’s an issue with how the epg is being consumed by the server.

I wonder if this is also related to the dvr playback issue in another thread where the selected show in the ui doesn’t play the correct corresponding video file?

Ditto what bpfaust4 said. The epg displays the proper game/team/time. When you select that entry and tell it to record all events for a specific team it never makes it to the server. Well, on second thought it makes it to the DVR events list, but it says there are no upcoming events (even though it was selected from an upcoming event!).

For sure this is a bug, I have cleared the recordings and tried to re-add them. When I click on a team even I check the box for All … Events and click save, then instantly the recording dot change to recording then back to grey that it is not going to record.

Having to schedule every recording of your sporting team is annoying. Hopefully the Developers will notice this and get it resolved.

I agree 100% that it’s a bug that needs to be fixed. I’ve never submitted a bug report to Plex, but I think we should. I’ll look into that.

I can’t for the life of me find a decent place to file a bug report. I see something about reported media server errors, logging and the like, but that isn’t where the problem is. I also see the place to report EPG errors (by provider), but that’s not at all what this is about. In the off chance that someone from Plex reads this, please reply to help.

You’ve done what you can. There is no specific place to report bugs. I know … Makes no sense.

You included logs so you just have to hope that someone from Plex reads this and cares. I wish I could be optimistic for you …

I did not, in fact, include logs because it I thought the screen capture would be more useful. Here are the logs.

I know, Plex will often say they need logs even when the bug is a generic bug that affects everyone that is easily reproducible.

I did try it myself and the Team rules don’t appear to work. I clicked on a NFL game, clicked record and used one of the team rules. The game did not appear in DVR schedule nor did any future games.

I think you provided your PlexWeb version and not the Server version. It appears that you are using the same server version as me – Version 1.25.3.5409 – mine is Windows.

Thanks again for the coaching, MovieWiz. Yes, I provided the client not the server version. My server is ver 1.25.3.5409 on Windows 10.

I just reposted the info above from earlier in the thread to make the point that it possibly broke with the 1.25.x.y update.

Which server version are you running such that it is still working for you? Trying to figure out which is the best approach to correct this while the bug gets sorted by devs (hopefully)…if using an xmltv guide is still working even on 1.25.x, that’s probably a preferable route to having to downgrade the server.

NEW INFO: I just found a series–not a team sport thing–has the same problem. It is marked as set to record all new episodes, but it doesn’t record anything. The guide says it’s marked for recording, yet the server says, “No upcoming recordings.” So, this is not “all team events” glitch. I’m guessing others will be having similar issues. I’ll go see if the same bug is mentioned in other forum threads.
