When setting up a DVR recording for NFL football, there is an option to follow the team that is playing (Record all events) and thereby recording any future games for that team that pop up in the guide.
When activating this feature, the future recordings for the team do NOT show up in the DVR schedule page and do not get recorded (as I learned today), even though they are clearly listed in the guide data for the current and following week.
This feature USED to work, not sure when it stopped working.
In my original post, I put “yes” to using XMLTV - I’m not sure that’s correct, I didn’t add any EPG source beyond what’s built into Plex - I thought XMLTV was a service Plex uses - not sure that’s right. Anyhow, I also live near the Canadian border and thus pick up some channels from Canada that I thought I’d include in my EPG guide. I’m wondering if this is a source of my issue.
In Plex, in the “LiveTV & DVR” settings, if I click on the channels on my tuner, I see this:
So my question is - would this screw up DVRing certain shows like NFL games? All of my other DVR recordings are working as expected, it’s just the NFL recordings that I can tell right now.
I don’t think this is the fault of your EPG. Looks like Plex just broke team following in this latest update. None of mine work, regardless of sport. It’s working if I add each game individually. Pain in the neck, but it is getting me by for now.
Noticed mine stopped working this week as well. Currently running Version 1.25.0.5246. Same work around as listed in which you need to manually add each game.
I’m using an XMLTV file with version 1.25.0.5220 with zero errors. Currently have Sunday 12/5 NFL Bears game and the 12/12 Bears + Packers game listed in my schedule for recording . We are a family divided and both teams are selected for all recordings.
I began with the zap2epg open source project (GitHub - edit4ever/script.module.zap2epg: zap2epg - EPG grabber for USA/Canada). It sources the EPG from Zap2it.com (A Tribune Media company).
When Plex (re)instituted support for teams a couple of years ago. (it may also have been when they moved away from Gracenote back then too), I modified my copy of the code to support Teams.
I just installed beta Version 1.25.0.5282 …
I altered my XMLTV script to only pull 3 days of EPG and reloaded the Plex EPG. Everything past 3 days out, “disappeared”.
I then rebuilt for 14 days of grid, reloaded and I have the 12/5 and 12/12 football games in the schedule again.
I should note, I am NOT running on Windows. I am running on a synology NAS setup. Sorry, I just noticed that it was tagged for Windows.
Sorry for not updating. I did look into this issue at the time and found the feature should be working. It is likely that the guide data may be missing some information.
Those seeing this, can you provide me your location and guide data you are using so we can check. Let me know what team you are following. My guess is that the “team” value is missing from the guide. If you are using XMLTV data, please provide that. You can PM me the info if you do not wish to share publicly.
