Playback issues like (micro)stutters are becoming more and more frequent in today’s day and age where files keep getting bigger and better, even with full gigabit connectivity between all devices and a plenty powerful plex server device running a Ryzen 5600G.
Take Nobody 2 (2025) for example:
4K HEVC Main10 + Dolby Vision Profile 7
~65 Mbps average video bitrate, Plex estimates peaks up to ~122 Mbps
Dolby TrueHD/Atmos 7.1
I would love to be able to pause the movie for a little bit, have it buffer X seconds based on a client setting, and resume playback to ensure for a smoother playback experience.
I’m not implying that this is the holy grail to all of our issues, but it would most likely go a long way.
