I’m new to the Plex server world, and it’s baffling why I can’t have a mixed-media Library. If I’ve got movies and series in the same genre, I’d like to be able to just make a single Library for that specific genre.
Having to create a Playlist or change the view to Library then sort By Folder (without any metadata attaching) and then explain all that to people is a bit of a nightmare.
It’s not that I can’t do it, it just seems like a common-sense feature that would go a long way.
Thanks for your suggestion. There’s already an existing suggestion thread discussing an option to have movies and shows combined in a single library. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes. Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
As a related suggestion… you can assign content from different libraries to same-named collections. Then the collection items will show up as related content (e.g. movies/shows/albums related to Star Wars).
I did a search but I got tired of sifting through stuff… my apologies.
As a temporary workaround, I’m putting movies into the series folder and just naming the folder “Season x,” then changing the metadata for the movies.
