Allow user to set 'no background'

Please add some way of setting 'no background' for artist pages.  I frequently find that the background images that Plex automatically finds are too busy, making text hard to read.  I say "for artist pages" because that's where I spend most of my Plex time, but it really should be everywhere background images are present.

For example:

I find that background makes it difficult to read the track info.

I realize I could change the background to something less annoying, but there are times when I simply want no background.

It doesn't have to be complicated.  I can imagine a few possible solutions:

  • Allow the user to click on the currently-selected image to de-select it.  If no image is selected, no background is displayed.
  • Allow the user to delete the available images from the Background selection dialog (this should be a feature anyway, IMO).
  • A checkbox in the Background image selection dialog.  You can still auto-populate the images, just don't display one unless the user wants it.  I'm typically a strong proponent of 'opt-in' vs. 'opt-out' settings, so I think it should be disabled until the user enables it.  Here's a mock-up:

I’d definitely love to see this feature added as well, and I especially like the first two solutions he proposed (clicking an image to de-select it, and being able to delete any image).

This feature should be added not just for backgrounds, but also for posters, as the same issue occurs there.

would be great to be able to delete bad posters. As an example the show “the librarians” on TNT is ALWAYS found as a different show (some british show I think) … would be great to be able to delete those incorrect posters, backgrounds, and banners. (same with “the flash”)

The checkbox doesn’t really match the aesthetic of how streamlined Plex looks. However, maybe just having a blank box selection with the artwork, that matches how the backgrounds can be picked, would match up nicely. Or even a white word inside that box that says “None” or “Blank”, etc.

I would really like to see this get more attention, now that the 3.0.0 build has made such an unpopular change.

Thanks for posting this topic. I would also like to have the option to at least disable the background.

+1
Folk, please use the VOTE button on this page to vote for this!

Same goes for the Album page as well.

Ugh! Not happy, again. I’ve been able to use Stylus in web browsers to turn off the damned color gradient backgrounds, but a recent release of Plex Web has changed things.

Now I have to figure out, again, how to override it.
