The side menu no longer has a solid background. I keep asking for more solid-color backgrounds, and you keep taking them away. I would really like to report this as a bug, but I’m sure it was a planned change. Please change it back.

I’m not using Android, but I agree with this as a blanket statement.
Contrast and simplicity and consistency are more important to me than sexiness.
I opened my FireTV to a Horror Show…
The New and Improved DVR Guide now switches to the Baby Vomit Smear/Blur background - EVERY TIME YOU SWITCH TO THE NEXT SHOW IN THE LIST! Imagine that light show when you’re trying to read white smears of what I think is text, but can’t be sure.
It’s giving me seizures - but I’m not sure if it’s latent Epilepsy, or Anger. The latter is a strong possibility.
Well - there goes the FireTV App - some more. Every time there’s a possibility of me using that app - Plex snatches it back.
The Roku Preview app has the same damn thing problem.
I’m not seeing that on 6.8.1.7110 (Preview - with the new sidebar/collapse) (thank the Maker - I still have one app left).
I see the same light grey across the entire app face. It didn’t matter if I switched Blur/Dimmed and High Contrast mode turned it all black.
Am I missing a setting somewhere?
The difference is that, on the Roku, the background doesn’t change for every library or tile you focus on. I’m sure that nonsense will make its way eventually. Go into an Artist Detail page and you’ll see the background change.

That sidebar is like that everywhere - until you go left, then it expands, but it doesn’t have a background that I can see.
Exactly. That’s the problem. It doesn’t have a background.
It has the same background the right side of the page has.
So, if that’s the problem, that’s what it’s doing for sure.
There is no background on the Home screen, so there’s no background for the sidebar either.
Yes, this is a change. The current non-preview app has a solid background behind the sidebar, so the page background doesn’t show through. I don’t want that to change.

We like the new Roku Sidebar - but I have no illusions it won’t change - at any minute. Perhaps in your favor.

Just to give the thread a bump and an attempt to incite reason…
That background blur that switches colors EVERY TIME you switch to a new poster on the Home Screen (FireTV) - has to either go away, or have a switch on it.
In 10 seconds of ‘browsing’ a headache begins to form behind my eyes - and in 20 seconds I have to switch back to the Roku.
That is seriously THE MOST ANNOYING graphical development - in history.
If that is happening in the sidebar - I have a notion it’s not very popular over at @beckfield 's house either.

I like the new side bar and the fact it’s semi translucent. Good use of on screen real estate IMO.
What I dislike with a passion is the changing blurred background as you scroll through a library. Would be much better if we had an option to pick a custom colour and then it stays like that within all the library views across your server(s).
Thinking about that turns my stomach - and that somebody thought it was cool (cool enough to force on everyone), is very disturbing. I fear for the future of Earth.
Or an Image to Blur - like a classy group photo of the band of geriatric has-beens that are now using the Server every day.
That flashing LSD Flashback is making us all Flashback or Puke - or both. We’re not impressed.
