I attached a 240GB SSD to my shield and adopted it as internal storage. I remember in the past being able to move the media server location once my thumbnails took up all of the 12GB of usable space on Shield. I had to reformat the shield and now when I try to move the media server location, it’s not even an available option. Please help.
Open the PLEX app on the Shield. Go to the settings in PLEX. Under PLEX MEDIA SERVER, select Storage Location. Now select “Internal(user accessible storage location)”. This will move the data from the Shield over to your new SSD.
Your 1st screenshot shows version 1.4.3.3433, your 2nd screenshot shows version 7.8.2.8255. PLEX on the shield is 2 apps, one is a PLEX Media Server (PMS - 1st screenshot) and is not current and the 2nd screenshot is the Client (Player). The current version of PMS is 1.14.0.5470.
So self-admittedly I was getting a little perturbed and was ready to write you off. Glad I didn’t and thank you for sticking with me. I checked the google play store settings and “auto-update apps” was turned on. Went up to My Apps and what do you know, the Plex Media Server had an update. So now I’m up to date on 1.14.0.5470 and I’ll be subscribing to the Plex Media Server update feed : Plex Media Server which now states 1.14.1.5488 is available to everyone as of 3 hours ago. So I’ll be keeping a look out for when that is pushed to the shield. We’re rocking and rolling. Thank you very much.
As an additional side note. I had my 240GB SSD adopted as internal storage, but for some reason every time I would restart the shield the storage location would change back to the default location and I would have to “re-claim” the server. I got tired of that and didn’t really care to troubleshoot so I made the 240GB SSD external and moved the PMS there. Multiple restarts later and it’s been consistent since then.
