Up until a couple server versions back, maybe 2 months ago, the setting to always enable subtitles worked. Every visit I watched had subtitles on by default. Then it stopped but every show and I have to manually enable on every episode of every show. Is this a bug? Is there a fix?
I’ve configured my own account to automatically select forced subtitles and that seems to be working fine.
Is this about videos for which you had manually set the subtitle selection before? That’ll override the automatic selection…
Do your videos have local/embedded subtitles that are properly tagged (according to your language preferences)?
Thanks for the reply @tom80H. Not getting notifications of replies to the thread for some reason.
Haven’t done anything with forced subtitles, thought that was different than always on subtitles.
This wasn’t for previously watched videos, this was for all new videos to automatically default to turn subtitles on so I don’t have to do it manually.
The videos have subtitles that I can select manually so they’re there. I don’t know the naming convention but for multiple long run series that I’ve started this has worked flawlessly for a long time until recently. Now it works for none, and if I manually check the setting in the episode it’s turned off. These are episodes that have never been watched before so they weren’t previously set to off. Send it’s not honoring the account setting anymore.
If those settings are correct, then I would ask what does the language show for the subtitle and audio track of the media you are adding? If one or both show as “Unknown” then I don’t believe the setting will work properly.
I’ll check for unknown subtitle and audio tracks, but it seemed to stop for all programs I was watching at the times, and there were like 4 different programs. I find it odd that all would have the same issue with what’s being downloaded at the same time.
Just checked the latest episode of a series that historically worked and there are two subtitles available and classified as English. When I go into the episode subtitles are set to off, which doesn’t make sense to me. If the default setting is on, and there are subtitles files that are English, why is it set to off?
