The above version is the latest available for Android on the Amazon appstore, and it appears to be several versions behind what’s avai;able on Google’s Play Store. For most apps this wouldn’t be an issue and i’d just download it from Google instead, but i paid for the premium version on Amazon, so i have to use theirs to unlock the premium features.
After downloading the Plex player app from Amazon, it refuses to install on my new phone. The error is a vague “device not supported”. If i try to manually install the downloaded apk, App Manager gives a more useful error:
INSTALL_FAILED_NO_MATCHING_ABIS: Failed to extract native libraries, res=-113
This app is incompatible with this device
The Google version, 10.5.0, installs without a problem. But, again, that has the premium features locked, as i paid for the Amazon version.
A few weeks ago i posted here about the Amazon app store version of the Plex player being out of date. It has since been updated to 10.5.0.4996, which was the version available on the Google play store at the time (that one is newer now). However, i’m still not able to install the app from the Amazon app store.
I’ve downloaded the apk file from the Amazon app store, and the same version from apkmirror.com, and the contents are different. The Amazon app store version only has libraries for armeabi-v7a architecture, while the apkmirror version has armeabi-v7a, arm64-v8a, and also x86 and x86-64 libraries.
My phone, Pixel8 Pro, only has 64-bit support, which is why the Amazon app store version won’t run (or even install). Can the developers please fix the version on Amazon? This is the one i’ve paid for, so i’m stuck on the Amazon version if i want the paid features.
