Amazon appstore version is not compatible with Android 12 and above?

Amazon support have told me that my new Pixel 7 Pro is not compatible with their current app version (it will not install). Is this correct? The Play Store version installs ok.

Does the Amazon app need be updated?

Here is their response

Thank you for contacting Amazon Digital support

I’m sorry to hear that you’re facing issue in installing the Plex app on your new android device.

I do understand that the app says not supported on your device. We definitely don’t want our customers to experience this kind of situation.

I’ve checked my resources and currently the Plex app is supported below the version of android 11.

In this case, I’ve forwarded your message to our Amazon development team for consideration as we make future improvements in our app. Customer feedback like yours is very important in helping us continue to improve the experience of using our digital service.

Our team is regularly working on customer experience to meet your needs in the best and we’re updating our Appstore selection, and app compatibility may change in very soon.

All we need is your understanding and little patience in this matter.

Play Store version#: 9.17.0.38861
Amazon Version#: 9.16.1.38616

I think it’s actually that they haven’t gotten round to updating all their apps to support 64-bit only devices. The Amazon Plex app is 32-bit and won’t install on the Pixel 7.

Who will update the app? Amazon or Plex?
