An error occured while attempting to play etc etc [Again] FireTV

Player Version#:Cant find this, But it is latest version

First of all I am aware there are many other posts regarding this issue, But none of them match the same devices, Nor do any have any solutions.

Everything was fine up until yesterday morning, I have been running a FireTV box for the past 5yrs and until recently [As amazon update corrupted the box] I have had to use a stick, But still worked fine, Anyway, since yesterday my FireTV displays all my content, Plays intro music for my TV shows, Everything you would expect, But anything I try to play gives the error, I have updated the server, Updated Plex on the FireTV, Restarted the server many times, Reset my router a few times, all to no avail.

The server itself is on a Windows 10 desktop which is left on 24/7 and hard wired Ethernet directly to the router.

I am unsure of how to find/save logs as when I do a search on it there is a lot of conflicting information, Descriptions don’t match those I have on the screen.

As explained everything has been working great up until yesterday morning, I have also tried another stick, Another fireTV box [Wifi and Ethernet]

I can view my content directly on the server desktop PC and from a WiFi win10 laptop, But no go with any Fire device.

Try to run System File Checker, “sfc/ scannow” in Command Prompt(as an admin). If the issue try to repair your OS with Installation Media.

I have installed a new hard drive into the desktop PC, Installed a fresh Win 10 and downloaded fresh PMS and rescanned library files and all were found fine, FireTV devices I uninstalled Plex and reinstalled so they all have newest version, I logged back into my account on all devices and all files were present, But still the error is there, I have tried all the settings changes suggested in other forum posts i have come across while searching for a solution, and NOTHING has worked, A lot of settings changes suggestions were actually nowhere to be found probably because they are from older versions? I just dont get how every movie and TV show worked perfect 24/7 for over 5 yrs, then next day boom, No longer works, Yet no one has a solution !! x2 Firestick in two bedrooms have same error, FireTV box in main living room, Same error, None of them work, They all worked 48hrs ago, Someone somewhere must know something surly !!

Update to a current release of Plex Media Server. 1.18.9.2571 was released in March 2020.

There is a problem with the current Android TV app and older versions of Plex Media Server (1.18.x, 1.19.x).

Updating to the current release, 1.23.4.4805 or 1.23.5.4801 (Plex Pass/beta), resolves the problem. You can download the update from plex.tv.

If you cannot or do not wish to update PMS, the workaround is to disable secure connections.

Plex Media Server: Settings → Network → Secure Connections = Disabled.

Android/Android TV app: Settings → Advanced → Allow insecure connections = always.

Done that when i done a fresh install of Win10 and PMS

Plex Media Server: Settings → Network → Secure Connections = Disabled.

Did that, No change

Android/Android TV app: Settings → Advanced → Allow insecure connections = always.

What finally worked was Settings > Debug > unchecking Direct Play and Direct Stream

Glad you have things working again.

FYI, those are Plex Web settings. They do not change the configuration of the Plex Android TV app or Plex Media Server. Unchecking both forces Plex Media Server to transcode when playing via Plex Web.
