Hello

I am getting this error "An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again " recently on both Android TV and Android mobile. The movies play in the desktop site.

Tried the below so far

  • reset video quality
  • disable audio pass-through
  • try other setting

Please help

The problem is the impossibility to set the old player… the last version is the 8.11
Without this option, and obbligatory use the new version of player, the media don’t run…
For the moment, is use de 6.0 for android phone and the 8.11 for the firestick

Thanks. How can you install a previous version on a mobile? Or do I just have to wait for a fix to be applied?

Use apptofire to send the apk to firestick…
The apk plex 8.11 it’s simple to find in internet…
For the mobile test the old version 6.0

edit I reverted to v8.00 on my android phone and I still receive the same error so this didn’t work for me

Just in the past few days I have noticed the same issue anytime I try to play any media on my mobile App or on my nVIDIA Shield. I have no issues viewing on a browser however. I tried going through the downloaded logs and I can’t find anything seemingly relevant. From what I understood on the above post, it has something to do with the newest version of the client??? Has this been officially addressed by Plex? I’m not sure how to go about going back a version on my Shield because it’s also my host and I’m worried about losing my current configuration.

Use the version 6.0 on android phone

v6.0 worked on my phone!
So you know of any official responses or resources to fix this without having to roll back versions to releases that are 4 years old? This only just started happening.

There’s a recent issue with secure connections on Plex for Android. You can try going to the Advanced section of the settings and change “Allow insecure connections” to “Always” to test it out.

Also, the server would have to not be set to require secure connections only. I believe it is set to “Preferred” by default, which should be fine.

I don’t recommend enabling “Automatically adjust video” either. That’s a buggy feature.

Hello ,

I tried all those but still getting the same error

I think it’s a crash caused by the new player!
:sleepy:

Thank you for the tip . 6.0 is working on Android

It is sad that have to go back to earlier version just to be able to use the app

Hopefully Plex is going to fix this soon

I have seen the solution on firetv… when I install the versions were is impossible select the typology of the player, the system don’t work.
If I deselect, were is possible, “use the new player”… the app work.
I don’t know why… but I hope a pront resolution!

I’m facing same issue, changing "Allow insecure connections” to “Always” does not help either.
Also Plex v6.0 is not working on my Android Phone
Is there any other way instead of roll back to Plex v6.0 for Android?

I am a beta tester on plex… at the moment, version 8.20, don’t work!
:rage:
I don’t know on firestick… I use the 8.11 version and it’s work, I don’t want change for the moment, it’s a big trubble deinstall… install… deinstall… install… :hot_face::rage::rage::rage:

I became a beta tester because no previous version was working for me.
This is so frustrating now I am just waiting for the next version hoping if that will work

Seems that version 7.18.0.11248 also works on Android phone. The problem starts with version 8

I posted this in another thread, but I fixed this issue. Although an old client did allow me to watch my media, the server was the root cause of the issue. See below.

FIX for nVidia
For anyone having this issue on Android devices with PMS running on an nVidia Shield -
I fixed this issue by manually updating PMS!

In the Google Play Store on your Shield search for ‘Plex’ and scroll down to Related Results (since Plex Media Server doesn’t seem to find it for some reason). There should be an option to update. I did not have to change secure connections (currently set to Never) nor did that have any effect.

I went from version 1.20.1.3252 to version 1.23.3.4707. Hope this helps

Had the same problem on my Kindle Fire HD 7 2020, reverting to 7.3 worked for me
