Hi all, having a strange one here. Have some h264/AAC m4v files that just won't play on my ATV via PlexConnect. They seem fine on PC etc. They bring up the 'An error occurred loading this content' message. All other content is fine. They've been re-encoded with ffmpeg the same as all my other content from .mkv files, so should be direct playing without transcoding. DirectPlay is set to auto.

  • Ensure you post your 'PlexConnect.log' file to pastebin and post the link ('PlexConnect.log' is located in your PlexConnect folder). If possible, follow these steps to create a "more detailed fresh" one:

What happens if you force transcoding?

Do they play in the iOS client?

Do they play in the iOS client?

They direct play fine on the iOS Plex client.

They will also play via the transcoder, but I don't have enough oomph on my server to transcode 1080p content, or deal with multiple 720p transcode streams, so I re-encode my media into natively supported formats so that direct play works.

Hmm strange the play on iOS. What happens if you force direct play?

If direct play is forced, it generates the same error, so it appears that the 'auto' setting is picking up the ATV profile from PMS, attempting to directplay and bombing out. I've grabbed the PMS debug logs:

Hmm I think Baa or Roidy will have to weigh in on this one

If you dont have a different non server os you can use for the time being then follow what @f00b4r said.

I can repeat the same issue on Win7 64bit, or CentOS. It's not the OS sadly, and Transcoding doesn't solve my issue - these files should DirectPlay.

Since the error exists with all your OS, I would guess at your network or the media files themselves.
