I still think that we may have two problems here, one is wi-fi, and the other is subtitle transcoding (PMS) or rendering (PlexConnect).
@pixibuex, if you connect ATV and Macbook with cable and turn subtitles off, do you ever get "An error occurred loading this content" ? And if you turn subtitles on (maintainning cable connections) the "An error occurred loading this content" appears again ?
Sorry this may sound silly but do you mean connecting Macbook to ATV with cable or connecting both devices to the router with cable?
I mean connecting ATV and Macbook to same router. If this works with no errors, then it is not a transcoding / rendering problem of subtitles, it will probably be a problem with your network. To connect ATV to Macbook you would need an "inverted cable", fixed IP's on both machines, and this is not a typical configuration.

After connecting with cable I got the "an error occured" error at the end of each video I play both with subtitles and no subtitles. But the issue with seeing this error every 10-15 minutes during a playback seems to be fixed with cable.
Good. Regarding your new error message, maybe it's the same type of error that is being discussed here, so please read that thread for a solution (still under investigation).
Back to your network, you cannot have both machines (ATV and Macbook) in wi-fi mode. Specially the Macbook, as it is acting as a server that potentially can serve several users simultaneously, needs to be connected by cable to your router unless it is only serving the ATV (in such case a pair of powerline adapters connected to the Mac and the ATV are a viable option).
