Everytime I watch a video, I see "An error occured loading this content" error at random times. Frequently. Several times during playback. -

Can you please post your ATVSettings.cfg file ? What do you mean with "Several times during playback" ?

- That you get the error some minutes after the video started playing
Also, is any of the machines (ATV, MacBook) connected through wi-fi ?
Do you have a different machine you could temporarily to install plexconnect to rule out the issue being you mac book. My money is it is a issue with the MacBook itself. What type of files are up you using .mp4 .mkv .avi. Is the issue with all files or just some? Is you aTV on wifi or ethernet. What about the MacBook Ethernet or wifi?Do you have internet sharing enabled is your mac book set to goto sleep? What is your energy setting set at on the mb? Can you give a detailed description of your network? Can you update to the latest version of PlexConnect and try again?

I get the error some minutes after video starts playing. I resume from where it stops and several minutes later it happens again. The error times are random. There is not a pattern. Sometimes it happens only once during a video, sometimes it is more than 5.
Both ATV and Macbook are connected through wi-fi.

I also installed plexconnect to my iMac and it happened there too. It happened with all formats: .mp4, .avi, .mkv. Both ATV and Macbook are on wi-fi. Internet sharing is not enabled. Macbook is set to never go to sleep. I will try updating PlexConnect.
What do you mean by detailed description of my network? Don't have much knowledge about these things so not sure what details you need.
I also would like to mention this all started sometime after I updated Apple TV to 6.1. I upgraded to 6.1.1. But it's all the same.
Try hard wiring it to see if you get the same issue and rule out any wifi problems, if you do try putting the ATV into DFU mode and restoring it to the latest firmware (make sure you put it into DFU mode to ensue it is a 'fresh' install of the firmware.

I tried ethernet and played a few videos. Got the error only once, at the last 2 minutes of one of the videos.

Yes, I use subtitles. Just watched 3 videos without subtitles and they all worked perfectly, didn't get any errors until the end of second video. After it stopped I couldn't resume from where it stopped. I remember reading about this in the forum. Guess it is another known issue. By the way I updated PlexConnect yesterday.

Just continued watching videos without subtitles and it happened again this time at the middle, not at the end.
Also I just noticed I forgot mentioning sometimes after the error I see "your apple tv is not connected to the network" error. So it seems like a network problem but haven't got this issue before update 6.1. Which makes me think it's related to Apple TV. I will try what @f00b4r suggested (putting the ATV into DFU mode and restoring it to the latest firmware)

Couldn't find instructions on how to put Apple TV 3 into DFU mode. Is it the same how it's done with ATV2?

All the info for DFU mode on the internet is for ATV2. No info for ATV3. Some people say it doesn't work for ATV3 but I tried anyway. No success. After pressing menu+down until the light started blinking rapidly, I released the buttons and the light started blinking differently this time. I clicked the restore button on iTunes and got an error that the device is not compatible. The light never stopped blinking.

Yes I did exactly that but I get this error:
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build”
(By the way it is not the first time I try to restore the device with iTunes. I was successful the last time I tried. But it was not in DFU mode.)
This is how do DFU properly:
Reboot your mac and disconnect all cables from your Apple TV. Plug in your aTV to your mac with a micro USB cable only for now and open itunes. As soon as you plug in your aTV to power hold play and pause immediately using the silver remote ip pointing it at the aTV obviously. After about 6 seconds release the buttons on the aTV remote. You should now see a constant flashing white light on the aTV. When iTunes pops up allow itunes to identify the device. Now let apple download the newest update and you should be good to go. DO NOT HOOKUP ETHERNET CABLE UNTIL THE PROCCESS IS COMPLETE! If you are using wifi disregard my ethernet warning.

Are you sure I have to hold the button "play/pause"? After I hold the button for 6 secs and release, a constant light starts to flash but iTunes doesn't recognize the device.
Check your computer's hosts file, if you have entries relating to Apple there from using something like TinyUmbrella it could be blocking iTunes verification for restores/upgrades.

That is to be expected when entering DFU just let apple search its server to identify it. Then load the latest ipsw automatically or manually using itunes. Ive only used DFU about 50x so im pretty sure you need to press play/pause ;)

Thanks. I wanted to be sure in case there is a typo or something :) I successfully restored Apple TV with DFU mode using my iMac. Guess the issue was with my Macbook before. Probably because of using TinyUmbrella once some time ago.
Sadly though, I still get the error :(
I still think that we may have two problems here, one is wi-fi, and the other is subtitle transcoding (PMS) or rendering (PlexConnect).
@pixibuex, if you connect ATV and Macbook with cable and turn subtitles off, do you ever get "An error occurred loading this content" ? And if you turn subtitles on (maintainning cable connections) the "An error occurred loading this content" appears again ?
