An error occurred while attempting to play this video on android tv 9

On Android TV 9 (philips 65oled804) always message "An error occurred while attempting to play this video… Restarting server and App

On your mobile phone (Android 10) and the Tablet (Android 9) is doing everything right.

Whether there is a solution because this is really very irritating because the restart does not help and the same video material is broadcast without problems on the mobile phone and tablet.

try turning off the new player and see if that works around it

turning off the new player works for my library but not plex’s free to watch section. it doesnt work as a fix for the free to watch section.

this annoying error is annoying and i dont understand why plex has not fixed this issue. clearly there is an issue because i have no problems on any other device including the web. this is should be their first fix versus always updating other crap. makes me want to switch to emby when stupid minor things like this happen. they should have a developer mode or at least a more advanced mode where you can tweak anything you want. who said their player is the best. clearly the old player is better. yea the gui on the new player is sweet, but if it gives problems i much rather be on the older player.

Turning off the new player is not a long term solution, as it will be removed in future. If you can still replicate this issue, can you please reproduce it, and provide some logs? :slight_smile:

I have this very same issue. Both my server (DS218+) and Android TV (mi box s) are in the current version. I can provide some logs if required but all I see is: “An entity does not exist with the type “providers” and id “undefined””

That sounds like a very different issue, can you please create a new thread for that, please :slight_smile:

I have the same issue. Updated my mibox s to Android 9 today and since then I’ve had nothing but issues using Plex on it. Works fine on my phone (OnePlus 7 pro - Android 10).
Using the old player fixed the issue, but this is a horrible workaround.
Please tell me an actual fix is coming soon -_-

Until today in my MiBox S with the android 9 version everything was working ok but they have just been updated correcting the lag of the video with bt and other things and then the Plex has stopped working correctly … I have to deactivate the new player to to see my movies and series.

I’ve the same error with mibox s since last update android 9… disabling the new Player works but hope that the issue will be resolved rapidely cause the new player is strongly better…

I ran into the same issue on my Mi Box S after Android 9 update.
And disable new video play also solve it.
Can you offer some update about that problem or do you need any additional information?

Same issue here. Turned off new player and now have video but no audio. Good times. Can cast to mi box with a phone but this issue is ridiculous

Same issue here. Updated my mibox s yesterday and since then countless issues using Plex on it.
Using the old player fixed the issue for now. ill try get hold of the server logs if it helps.
