+1 having same issue on 4K fire stick which also now claims my 4k stick and TV arent 4k anymore!!!

Just to bump the topic, I too have had the issue. Only some videos have the issue while remote. Same android phone over local wifi works fine with the same video that fails while remote. I can play some videos while not others while remote so its only some videos and while remote.

I take it 7.29 has done nothing to fix the problem?

Same issue here, for the last couple of weeks. Changing to the old player fixes it, fiddling with the maximum H264 level doesn’t.

Having the same issue on my Fire stick as well, only option I found to solve it is to turn off the experimental player. The consistent error I’m getting is:

Seems to me that the new player is crashing or something, because it says the connection is reset by peer. I’m also not sure about the range… There’s no upper bound there when it tries to get the video, but I’m no expert perhaps that’s meant to be that way?

Either way, if I sign into my PS4 the Plex app works beautifully. For me the problem comes when I try to play an H265 video, as this video is. When I play an H264 video it works fine. I tried changing the video settings (player smaller videos) and the audio settings (disabling passthrough, selecting an AAC track). Nothing works, the Fire app also lacks the ability to tell the system to transcode the video before playing, my thought is that it’s crashing when it receives the H265 stream for some reason and that’s causing the session ID to be lost and the connection to be reset.

That’s just my theory of course, as usual with log files one really has to know a lot about what’s being logged for it to make sense. I even tried telling it to auto-adjust quality hoping that would trick Plex into transcoding it which I’d hoped would solve the problem.

I’ve had issues with Plex on Android platforms before, both when I had an Android phone and now on the Fire stick… The Android app just errors out a lot. I don’t have this issue on any other platform from Windows to Mac to my iOS devices or my PS4.

All right, I won’t go over the thousands of differents ways that people are working around the problem. I just want to report that I’m with this issue and waiting for Plex to take some action. I recommend that everyone with the problem to just don’t only read but also post here so we increase the number and get some notice about it

Same here, all my android devices are not able to read anything.
Plex on Shield allows to disable the new player and it works.
Plex on my phone allows to replace it to another player (like vlc) and it works but does not use resume & co. I can’t disable the new player.
Waiting a new version with a fix.

Hi. Got the same problem on Shield and Android. Turning off new player fixes it. Disabling h264 maximum level doesn’t fix it.
I found the movies that had the issue said it’s transcoding because it failed to direct play. Which I find strange I have no idea why it can’t direct play

Getting this on Shield with new player. H.264 and EAC3 5.1, SRT subs. Some things play, others don’t.

I got the people using Amazon Firestick to set use new player to disable and that has fixed the issue with transcoding when there is a server imposed bandwidth limit but it’s not really a perfect fix, why are the Plex staff not responding to this issue? Do they want everyone to move to emby?

Not just the Firestick, my cube is also an issue. Jerky playback even on 480p black and white movies. Have tried all the suggestions to no avail, even sideload the 7.9 beta. Works fine on Kodi…fix it Plex…

Same issue! WTF!!! My X950G TV is having all kinds of problems.

They really need to FIX PLEX fast! This is so upsetting, and looks lazy on their part! Plex is the buggiest app on my TV. Why tf do I pay for Plex Pass for it they can’t fix their App in a timely manor?? And, I know they’re getting money from Tidal and other advertising! No excuse, and them ignoring me is not ok.

Worked a treat for me too. New Broadband yesterday, lost remote access for a while and finally got it running. remaining issue was the Android App (following an OTA Update to Android 10 last night too!) and this has solved the problem. Thank you
