Dear Plex, I use Plex for my DVD rips (and love it, it is amazing!) and I want to start using the live TV and DVR features you have, but there is one big problem with it. In my family, I have got everyone to make their own accounts and they are now under the ‘home’ section.
My idea would be limit the people you can add to your ‘home’ to something like 5 or 6, and then have all of these people be able to access live TV and DVR recordings. This makes much more sense than just one person in the family having access to this. My guess is that the people supplying the TV (either OTA or cable) wouldn’t like Plex users to be able to share this with unlimited people around the world, and I guess that is why live TV is limited to the main account, but by allowing 5-6 family members to use it as well, it would be a similar use case to regular DVRs and cable boxes.
My other suggestion is that, and I’m sure Plex have purposefully banned this, but allowing IPTV channels. I’m being serious here, I would actually only use this for legal, overseas news channels as I sometimes prefer these. I doubt this will ever happen, but its worth a shot at asking.
Thanks, A happily paying member of your wonderful program.
I can’t speak in regard to IPTV, but I know that allowing DVR access to home members is something that’s of interest to Plex.
