Hello, I am getting a playback error on a TV show I recently added to my server. The playback error occurs on my desktop/server as well as when I try to play it from the app on my Samsung smart TV (version 5.1.0) and I have even re-downloaded the show and another version to make sure it isn’t the files. I’m also experiencing the same issue on my Samsung TV. Not sure if this was caused by a recent update to the app, but I noticed that it’s only affecting x265 media files. I tried disabling video transcoding but the issue wasn’t resolved.

can you turn on logging on in the app on your tv then reproduce then grab server logs. (the tv logs write to them)

The exact same issue has happened to me—tizen tv, randomly “an unexpected error occurred during playback” error. I have used Plex reliably for about a year, but now I get this error every 5 minutes while watching anything. It also loses my place every time.

I am not the OP, but I am including my logs as well. To help you know when the error occurs, here’s a timeline of events. All were May 14th, PST.

2:30PM — logs turned on to verbose from tizen tv
2:31PM — attempt to play file, immediately get “unexpected” error.
2:32PM — attempt to play file again. file begins.
2:35PM — get “unexpected” error again

edit: some more info:

Server is on a windows 10 machine. TV is tizen, samsung frame 2020 (I think-ish). I have tried wired/wireless, 2.5ghz/5ghz, turning hdd sleep on and off, restarting computer, etc. Nothing has changed it at all. I did a series of tests to see if there was a specific point where it would throw this error. I started the same file from the beginning 9 times in a row, and got the error at: 19 minutes(m),5m, 12m, 6m, 8m, 10m, 26m, 4m, 2m. Median is definitely around 6m.

I now regret adding onto this thread, as I think the OP may have an actual issue, while my issue was merely user error. So yeah, if anyone runs into this thread and has these constant errors, try improving the connection.

@EEE You have several network change events in the log files.

Connect your server to the network via wired Ethernet instead of WiFi.
