I’m running a headless Ubuntu Server 16.04.2 LTS with a Hauppauge WinTV Quad HD PCIe Tuner.
Just checked my recordings and saw a recording failed with “An unknown error occurred”.
I’ve checked my signal strength and they looked perfect.
Log file is attached. Any insight would be appreciated.
Also once Modern Family stopped recording, Salvation started recording without any intervention. Don’t know what that is about, since there should be four tuners to choose from…

Ok, I ran four different recordings at 9:00 pm central time and Roseanne initially showed the same yellow triangle with “an unknown error occurred” Other three recordings appeared to be fine. Once my post processing job finished from Salvation, Roseanne started recording…

Hey - sorry you didn’t get any traction on this question. You’re actually one of the only people I’ve seen successfully running the Hauppauge WinTV Quad HD PCIe Tuner on linux. Would you mind giving me some advice to get to the point you’re at? What version of the tuner do you have? 1609? I ran lspci -v and it shows that my OS is using the cx23885 driver. And /dev/dvb/ shows adapter0 through adapter3. What else did you have to do to get it running? Did you click “DVR SETUP” under DVR (Beta) in the settings? When I do this, it doesn’t find anything (running v1.7.6.4058 on Arch linux kernel 4.11.9).
Also, I looked through your log. It seems like it’s mad about EVERYTHING, down to the “invalid framerate” (Jul 18, 2017 23:05:02.686 [0x7f2e399e4700] ERROR - get - invalid frameRate value: 59.940). When I google this error without specifically searching for the DVR, it turned out to be a codec issue (http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1452854). I’m not sure why you’d start to get issues in the middle of a recording. Maybe you run out of memory and it dumps one codec out of memory to use another on another channel you’re recording? I think that’s my only guess: monitor your memory and try to line it up with your recording failures.

Sorry you can’t get yours working. I’m running mine under Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS and just followed the PPA installation instructions on Hauppauges website.
Once I did that, the tuner showed up under DVR setup. Of course these instructions only appear to be for Ubuntu. I don’t see anything for Arch Linux.

Just a shot in the dark, but is your “Plex” user a member of the “Video” group?

I believe this is needed for Plex to have access to the PCI-E card. Maybe that is all you need
