I shared a library with these guys and now and it has stopped working on their xbox 360 only recently. it works on their PlayStation. The XBOX app says “error communicating with your plex server”. There is a green dot next to my server name.
seems there are two possible culprits I was reading about on these forums:
They recently got a CenturyLink c1100T and apparently those can have upnp and other issues, but seems like that usually involves the server going outside the network, not to a player coming in from outside the modem.
People are reporting more and more problems with the XBOX360 player, which is apparently a long time with no updates.
Does anyone have a good solution here? Thanks for reading!
I’ve got a similar problem. I’ve got a few different consoles hooked up to Plex, PS4, XBox One (all working fine) and a couple of XBox 360’s which have recently started doing exactly the same as you’re seeing.
From a brief look at logs, and comparing what shows up in the Plex console (The '360 does show up, but doesn’t end up playing anything) the only real difference seems to centre around transcoding. I’m also here looking for a solution - ideally one that doesn’t involve using a different device to playback…
Thank you I had not found the official word on the app before. I think I’m going to be unwilling to downgrade the server to accommodate this one machine.
Considering how cheap it is to get something like a Roku stick now a days (not to mention how much better it will work than the 360 app ever did) it does seem counter productive to keep trying to use it. Good luck.
