Android app - no direct connection when other devices are fine?

I’m having a weird issue with Plex on my Android phone - my local Plex server is reporting that ‘Direct connection unavailable’, usually after a long period of Plex being inactive. The weird part is a number of IOS devices and even the Windows 10 app has no problem.

I’ve found I can fix the issue on my Android phone, by clearing the appdata and cache and logging in again, but this isn’t much of a long term solution.

Is there a known bug with the Android app? or is it just me?

My setup:
Android 7.1, app version 6.18.0
PMS 1.13.0.5023 (Remote access enabled and working) on Ubuntu 18.03LTS

I am running Pihole on my server and it acts as the DHCP / DNS server for my LAN. I have added a rule as suggested by a Plex support article into dnsmaq (rebind-domain-ok=/plex.direct/)

I’m out of ideas - the fact Windows 10 + IOS have no problem, makes me wonder if this is a bug with the Android app, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is something obvious I’m missing.

Please help!

I am having the same problem.
Android 8.0.0
Plex app Version 7.0.2.5441
PMS Version 1.13.0.5003 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

It also struggles starting a video on a player like rasplex unless I use the the “remotecontrol” feature. That works perfectly, but just choosing to play seems to start the video, but it does not display on the player.

Sorry, that’s 2 issues, but they might be both related to the Android app.

Updated to Oreo and still having the same problem :frowning:

Must be a bug in the Appp
