Hi all,
I recently enabled hardware acceleration on my plex server running within a docker container and while testing it have encountered a playback issue on my android device when playing transcoded movies.
When forcing a transcode (remote quality set to 1.5Mb) At 26 seconds in multiple movies the playback seems to just freeze, the server logs still show transcoding and sending the segments and no errors in the server log but the picture freezes. If I wait >30 seconds I can fast forward to 00:00:56 seconds and get a still image of what should be playing at 56 seconds - if i wait another 30 seconds i can fast forward to 1:26 and see a still image from then but playback never actually resumes and the server continues to (seemingly) happily push the movie. In Plex dashboard when the playback has frozen it shows the time still continuing and when I fast forward to 30 seconds the time goes backwards (the elapsed time had passed the frozen+30 seconds time). When I remove the streaming limit and the files direct play everything works as expected.
I have tried on the web player and an Ipad with the same files and they play fine. I also reverted to not using hardware acceleration and the files play ok. I also tried reinstalling the app but haven’t had a chance to try with other android phones yet.
I’ve attached the logs from the android client in the hope someone can see what is happening and provide some insight.
