UPDATED THE WINDOWS SERVER TO THE LATEST THE OTHER NIGHT. AND SOMETIME AFTER THAT THE ANDROID APP WENT HAYWIRE, ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE IS NOTHING ON MY HOMESCREEN… MY LIBRARIES ARE THERE AND PINNED TO THE SIDEBAR… BUT WHEN YOU SEARCH IT FINDS NOTHING … THAT IS SEARCHING “PINNED” AND ALSO “ALL” WHICH THEN FINDS ALL THE PODCASTS AND STUFF BUT NOT MY MEDIA IN MY LIBRARIES… SO THEY ONLY WAY I CAN WATCH A MOVIE IS TO SCROLL THRU MY LIBRARY AND FIND IT… I’VE UNINSTALLED THE APP - CLEARED CACHE ETC OVER N OVER… EVERYTHING IS UP TO DATE BLAH BLAH BUT THE SEARCH JUST REFUSES TO WORK AND NONE OF MY MEDIA SHOWS UP IN THE HOMESCREEN EITHER.
if i search under “all” it comes up with everything under the sun BUT my media… If i search pinned… simply nothing comes up… but if you go to that folder everything is there and works fine
As for the home screen, you might want to double-check if you have any libraries set to be “on deck”. That’s how Plex fills the hubs that usually show on that screen.
As for the search… I’ve noticed there’s a change in Plex Web (there’s a number of posts about the search no longer searching everything but only from “on deck” libraries (while searching from home screen) and the selected library (if searching from a library and that library is not “on deck”). Not yet aware of any general issues regarding the Android search (and no idea how to troubleshoot).
I ran into the same issue after upgrading to Plex Media Server 1.19.1.2645. I didn’t notice the issue right after upgrading to the newest PMS, but I did finally notice it when I tried to search my Music library on the Plex Android App on my Samsung.
Even though my Music library was “pinned” and I was searching “pinned sources” none of my music library entries were showing in the search results.
After performing the following on my Music library (Manage Library --> Edit --> Advanced: “Include in Dashboard”), my music library was scanned again by PMS. Now the Plex Android App returns Music entries in my search results like it did prior to the PMS upgrade.
I would have never found that setting - thanks tom80H!
I found this thread because I also had a music search problem. In my case, Plex for Windows would get search results more or less as I expected, but the Android app would simply not find any content with the same search string, no matter what search scope I used. Plex for iOS would return some relevant search results, but they weren’t the same results as the Windows client.
Based on the advice here, I turned on Include in dashboard for that music library advanced settings. Now, I can get some search results on Android… but I have to choose to search Music or All Media. Searching Pinned doesn’t work at all still even though the library of interest is most definitely pinned.
It is baffling to me that Search Locations does not include “this library.” To find what I want I have to widen the search to all music libraries and so most of the results are way, way off base. And with the same settings, search results are different on every client.
Anyway thanks @tom80H for pointing out the setting, it upgraded my search from “totally broken” to “not great” which is a huge improvement.
I don’t have an on deck checkbox and I can search exactly 0 libraries though the PVR search is working!!! Anyone have any ideas besides delete entire Plex and start again?
