Android: Auto-reconnection, player controls, background play, view mode

  1. Automatic reconnection after a short timeout. Don’t give up and don’t display an error message. This is the most important thing. The mobile app is not good unless it can reconnect.
Right now, a ton of disconnections are caused by bad connection, poor playback, or some kind of crash during seeking. Then I have to manually hit ok and play again, every time. The server is an i9 13900. Need some better software that can handle a spotty connection or quicker seeking.

  2. Option to stop auto hiding the player controls (like VLC Android).
Also, separate options to not autohide my home button. I like using the home button, I actually prefer on screen buttons and not physical controls, but I need my on-screen buttons to be visible all the time.

  3. Background play mode (like VLC Android). I’d rather the movie didn’t stop playing unless I wanted it to stop. This is also related to #1: I’m afraid to have the player stop playing, in case it crashes and can’t reconnect properly.

  4. Allow better control over popup video/multi-window (like NewPipe), at the moment it barely works. Sometimes, when you are in pop-up video, you can’t switch to multi window mode, and vice versa. You’ll end up with two Plex library “windows” (top/bottom split) with the pop-up video hovering over everything. (Poco X3)

  5. “Touch from inside” display mode, like VLC for PC. Currently there is no display mode that allows the video to fill the screen on both landscape and portrait. I use letterbox in portrait, and the others are unusable. But when I go to landscape, there are gigantic black bars on all sides of the video?

  6. Fullscreen button on the UI, like YouTube Android app has.
