[Android Auto] Shuffle All Songs request

Can we please have some response from the Devs on this? At least say “no we’re not doing it” or " we’re working in it" or anything

What about in Android Auto, which was the main point of this topic?

This would be a great feature, and I’d give it all my votes if I could.
I (and probably everyone else) don’t have time to search for some songs in the car, and it’s definitely unsafe while driving.

+1 to this as well. Definitely more safe and less user actions vs shuffling a playlist (if possible to implement).

would love to see this as well!

Same request here as well. It takes a very unsafe number of clicks to get anything done inside of android auto, something similar to google plays “shuffle all downloaded” music button would really help me. Current click through for me like this

  1. click music icon in android auto
  2. click plex
  3. Having to click music server
  4. on device (downloaded)
  5. recent artists
  6. name of artist
  7. album name
  8. song

To start any music playing on my device while driving is just a crazy amount of clicks. It’s outside the 4 tap limit that all of my other apps have inside of android for safety reasons.

Having the option to pin a shuffle all downloaded, or even just all music would transition me to

  1. click music icon in android auto
  2. click plex
  3. click shuffle downloaded

This request has been going since 2017 and still no shuffle all option for plex in android auto. I started +1 several post and realized it doesn’t matter. I’ve given up hope that the function will be added. I’ve been using google music because of this. Just switched back to Plex app because syncing is easier and I live with the 3 minutes of prep time before I drive off.

Plex, please address this request. Being able to quickly play music is a missing feature in Android auto. Voice control “Plex play library radio” would be a nice start. Also a button in the UI would be easy, (just like in the app).

This. I’ve just bought a car with Android auto and have been playing playlists from Plex, however with the current layout, without having to do a voice search, I can only start the list from the top 15 songs on the list. I would love to open the Plex app open the source menu and hit ‘shuffle all’ right next to the source (I have playlists sync’ed with my device for times when driving through weak signal areas). Or even a ‘Library Radio’ button at the top of the list once the source is selected.

It would be nice if they could just make it these options of the playlist, like putting in settings for each playlist.

“Always shuffle playlist instead of linear order”
“Add playlist to Android Auto Home Screen Shortcuts”

It’s probably a fruitless gesture at this point to post a reply but I agree; it’s highly unusual not to have the shuffle option. In the car, 95% I like to use shuffle. I’ve been having to use the PLEX app itself which doesn’t lend itself well to car use.

Same for this user…haven’t had many opportunities to use AA but when I do, Plex is…not great. Why can’t I just shuffle what is on my device? Even being able to just shuffle by artist would be great. Really annoying lack of a feature.

+1 Is really a big feature for AA, you just want to start your car and shuffle it

To all…

try creating an auto playlist that is always shuffled.

The only problem with this @TeknoJunky is that this is something we need with Android Auto, and the auto shuffling playlist suggsted there is for Plex/Web.

I was hopeful that with the new Plexamp app that they’d add shortcuts to the playlists, but they didn’t even make Plexamp work with Android Auto. For me, that’s about 90% of where I listen to my music…

Hiyas, if you create an ‘always shuffled’ playlist via the above link, all you will need to do is ‘play’ it, via android auto or any other client.

every time the playlist is loaded or played, it will be shuffled.

did you try it?

Any update from the DEV’s on this? This is the feature that is killing using plex on Android auto for me for music. (That plus the Plex AA app crashes at the end of every album and I have to switch to another music app such as amazon music and back if I want to listen to something else)

I added all my songs to a MUSIC playlist and do it that way.

+1 this is needed.

Shamelessly bumping this, because it’s an incredibly important feature to have.
