Android clients won't pick the correct subtitle

The issue is happening with the video files that contains ASS subtitles. When there is an ASS subtitle, the player doesn’t pick the correct subtitle. For example when there is an ASS subtitle embedded and an external SRT subtitle and when I select the external SRT, the wrong one is shown. I can replicate the issue on both my Android mobile device and Shield.

No issues on web and Samsung tizen clients. I believe this is an issue specific to Android clients.

Appears to be addressed in a 9.7 beta release:

BETA:

  • Player: ensure correct external subtitle track is selected.

Unknown when 9.7 will go from beta to public release.

You can sideload a beta build if desired. Note that sideloaded apps do not update via the Google app store. You will need to delete & re-install the Google app store version to start receiving updates.

You can also join the beta program if desired.

It appears to be fixed on mobile, I couldn’t have a chance to test it on TV yet but I believe it will work as well. Thanks a mill FordGuy!
