Say you play a video with two external subs, one english and one dutch or whatever. All your settings are correct. Plex in android will have a tickmark at English extrrnal sub but it will play the dutch. Why? Because D comes before E
Theres no way to fix this except if you force transcode
Pls pls fix this. It existed for close to 3 years as far as i know
I think i’m having a similiar problem just the inverse?
I have EN + PT subtitles in every episode, but i can no longer play with PT subtitles, it always renders the EN subtitle!! This started happening to me yesterday.
If i force transcode the PT subtitle works fine!!
Mine was already set to auto.
Toggled it to “image only”, tested, same
Toggled it back to “auto”, tested, same
Toggled to “burn in” and it works as expected but this is not a solution at all. I don’t want to transcode just to be able to fix my subtitles!
I’m still very puzzled on why i just hit this issue yesterday, i didn’t change anything, it even happens on previous episodes that worked fine the day before! It’s a very strange bug…
It would be nice to see any plex staff atention in this major bug.
It’s preventing me to use plex as normal, had to delete all EN subs to make the PT subs work…
Okay so got a complaint that my subs were defaulting to English on my Shield pro 2019. By the looks of it, it updated very recently cause there was some streaming services stuff anyway…
When I start watching a movie show or whatever and I select my external dutch.srt it will always take the English one. I do not have this issue on my browser with plex. I fixed it for now by enabling burn in but let’s just say energy prices are not cheap and I don’t need my closet heated by unnecessary transcoding please note and fix this issue.
I’m wondering if the title of the thread is not helping us get attention?
Maybe the title should be something more dramatic like “Subtitle selection doesn’t work at all”
