Within the last couple of weeks I’m no longer able to play more than one complete song without the plex app locking up. I get the pop up that says “close app” or “wait”. Waiting does nothing, so closing the app is the only option.
Steps to reproduce:
Open Plex app
Navigate to Music Library
Select shuffle to begin playing music
Allow screen to lock
Do not unlock phone
Sometime in the middle of the second song the music will abruptly stop.
Unlock phone and navigate to plex app
Note that buttons are all completely unresponsive
Note that media player still thinks its on the first song, even though the second song was playing.
After some time a pop up will appear asking if you want to close the app.
I have attached the server logs and the player logs. Please let me know if there’s any additional info I can provide.
I cannot reproduce this on my Android phone.
Is it possible that your phone is applying a particularly aggressive power saving method? i.e. apps which haven’t been used for time x are getting force-closed or stopped or deprived of cpu resources etc.
You should see the relevant settings in your phone’s Settings app, under Apps → Plex → “stop app if not used”, and/or Plex → Battery.
See if the behaviour changes if you select a less aggressive preference in there.
Do also verify that your phone is not permanently in “battery saving” mode. This will seriously interfere with apps which are not deemed “essential” by Android.
Hi @OttoKerner thank you for your response. I should have mentioned that I already thought that might be the issue. Plex is already set in “unrestricted” mode for battery usage, and power saving mode is not enabled.
