Sorry to post again, but after posting about a similar, but different issue here: Plex app crashes when playing music, even with new music player
I thought I should probably try turning Android 9’s (Pixel 2 XL, Plex Android 7.10.0.8875) automatic “battery optimization” back on, since it’s on by default and most other apps don’t need it turned off, etc.
However, after listening to music for an extended period of time (a few hours) with the device locked for an hour or so, I noticed that the music stopped playing after the current song. The current song played completely fine until the end, and music playback stopped, so I’d figured the album I was listening to ended. However, when I unlocked my phone a few minutes afterwards, the next song on the album immediately began playing. This is different from my previously referenced issue because Plex did not crash, it just was unable to continue loading the next songs for some reason while the device was locked.
I thought to take device logs a few minutes after it happened, and I’d be willing to send them if needed.
